It's quite interesting what you can find just by looking through old magazines. I was going through my extensive collection of SW: Insider and happened to come upon my copy of Issue 62(October 2002). Upon turning to the article on Lightsaber combat(Fightsaber, pp. 28-37) I noticed a small side article called Yoda's Legacy. In this article, the identity of the Chosen One is finally exposed. What follows is an excerpt from the article:

......To conquer Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker creates a new kind of victory. Through a resolute validation of his opponent's spirit, a faith that overcomes all obstacles, Luke finally redeems Anakin Skywalker and brings balance to the Force.

Intrigued? I thought that last line might catch your interest.... So, it is Luke all along that is the Chosen One, not Anakin. Hmmmm, most interesting.
