 | This Baby Is A Blessing |
 Introductions are in order..........
I am very pleased and proud to introduce my future granddaughter to everyone. She's had a bit of a rough start, but everything is right on schedule for her arrival in late May or early June. Mother and baby are healthy and the pregnancy is progressing beautifully.
As I watched this ultrasound, this miracle of life displayed before me, of course, I cried, along with everyone else in the room. Seeing the little fingers and toes (at one point, she was sucking her thumb) makes it so real. In a few short months (long months to my daughter!) we will be holding and loving this new baby. Those of you who are parents know exactly the feeling. Being a grandmother was a very scary prospect, but after seeing the images of this precious little life, I see nothing but joy. Granny-Wan, Jedilily, and anyone else who happens to be a grandparent out there, you know what I'm talking about. Anakin was right. What a blessing this baby is!
After I caught my breath and dried my tears, I began to think about how this connects to my other world, my Star Wars World.
I began to think about Padmé and her pregnancy.
I began to wonder how in the world she did not know she was carrying twins. Did she want to keep her pregnancy so secret that she did not seek prenatal care? If she had, she would have known. Or did she know? If she did, why didn't she tell her husband?
The technology was there, the medical droid on Polis Massa informed Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Bail that Padmé was carrying twins. So why didn't she know before that?
Maybe this is one of those things we're not supposed to question. This line of thought also raised a few other question, but I won't go into them in this entry.
You know me, I'll always be back with more questions.
Until then...............MTFBWY

It was a Secret
Hey there, GB. Glad to hear all is well in Bodaciousville. Padme` had prenatal care, it's in the novel version of ROTS. Padme` has a medic droid named, *Emedee* (sp?) she had instructed the droid to keep all but the health, a secret. Just like their marriage, their blessing of a new hope, was kept a secret until the time was right.
Congrats on your newest addition! ~Angel~

Grandchildren are waaaaaay more fun than children... for starters, you don't have to carry them for nine months....
I'm not referring to that tired old joke about spoiling them and then sending them home, either... I havew two grandsons, and all 6 of us lived together for almost 5 years... the thing with grandchildren is you can have lots of fun without all the responsibility....
Damn, now I really miss those guys.... {sniff}

How wonderful, gb! And congratulations! The time will fly by between now and then, but I know I don't have to tell you that.
Wow, ultrasound pictures have improved!
And for the record, unless Padmé had something like an ultrasound, she probably wouldn't have known she was carrying twins. I never had an ultrasound when I was pregnant with my first daughter. I was as big as a house (I am not kidding!), and convinced I was carrying twins. (How else could I explain the weight gain? )
Congrats, again!

God Bless your grandchild.
I believe Angel answered your question regarding Padme's pregnancy!!
As for grandkids...Granny-Wan's right, they're a lot of fun and they keep you young, besides loving us grandparents unconditionally. You've never had fun until your down on the floor crawling, laughing, and playing with a grandchild. Just imagine the tea parties you'll be attending. It's one of the greatest feelings in the world...everyone should try it. LOL

BODACIOUS!!! Look at that beautiful little girl! It's amazing how beautiful these tiny little people can be, isn't it? Plus, this girl is going to be blessed with a loving family the minute she comes into the world...
You are seriously going to be such a wonderful grandmama! I'm so excited for you!!!!!
As for the Padme thing, Angel seems to have you covered. I always thought she looked way too tiny to be carrying TWO kiddos in there. I think she was too tiny for a pregnant lady in general! After seeing the movie I joked that to be more realistic, Padme needed to add 30 lbs. and some serious mood swings!
P.S. It's good to see you around here!

How precious she looks
I think Padme "knew" she was having twins.
I think she somehow knew Anakin was "changing" and did not want any harm to come
the the babies. She definatlly did not trust Palpatine. I don't really think she liked his infulance on Anakin.
You take care,
Leia

words can't express how happy i am for you and yours, GB. i can't even imagine what it'll be like seeing my little one get ready for little ones of her own . . . though i'm quite sure GW is right - it's more fun being the grandma than the mama!!

I just watched my #5's ultrasound video (with her!) the other day. Memory lane...and a miracle of technology.
(((hugs))) to you and your family.

Thank you everyone!!!
Padme` has a medic droid I completely forgot about that! Thanks for setting me straight once again, Angel! I'm still comfused about the twin thing though. But I suppose Melinda explained that one. Thanks guys!
the thing with grandchildren is you can have lots of fun without all the responsibility.... I cannot wait!! Thanks, Granny-Wan!
The ultrasound was incredible. You could actually see things (and not have to use your imagination) You could see the four chambers of the heart, and even the valves at certain angles.

Are they sure it's a girl? Well, nothing is certain until the baby is born, but the ultrasound tech seems very certain she is a she, and from what I understand she's never wrong.
Wow, ultrasound pictures have improved! I hear the 4-D ultrasounds are as clear as pictures, but very expensive. I'm not sure insurance will cover them.
Congratulations in every way! Thank you, MO2YP! Thanks so much for sharing!!! I knew I had to share with my other family.

You are seriously going to be such a wonderful grandmama! Thanks JP!
I always thought she looked way too tiny to be carrying TWO kiddos in there. I agree! And did you see the size of those babies? No way were those two stuffed in there! Not unless they were hiding behind her kidneys. Hee hee
Padme needed to add 30 lbs. and some serious mood swings!Oh honey, let me tell you about mood swings! My daughter can go from 0 to b***h in five seconds flat, God love her! I don't remember being so moody when I was pregnant.

GB!!!!!!!!! I'm very excited for you, Thanks, Ami! They don't make videos anymore (at our hospital), but they told us they''re getting a new ultrasound machine--hopefully before the baby is born, where they can make us a DVD. That would be so awesome! This baby is quite the little swimmer, too! She would barely hold still to get her picture taken. Just like her mama!
Thank you to everyone! You are all so wonderful! When I have more pictures to share, you can bet I will!

As for Padme not knowing she had twins? Technology is only as good as the makers. Meaning? Full of flaws because it was made at the hands of humans or aliens or what not, my dear.

Don't get me started on prenatal care in the GFFA. Instead of keeping Padme on Coruscant, Anakin figured he'd just pick up a few Dark Side tricks?
Congratulations. jkelly2's ulatrasound showed him mooning us ... a harbinger of things to come.
My mom and mom-in-law love grandkids. My mom retired before she had grandkids and was always looking for something to fill her time (e.g., part-time job as a Walmart greeter). Now, she refuses to work and calls almost daily wondering if she can baby-sit (between my brother and I, she's now up to 4).
I wish you the best of luck and envy the day I have grandkids and kids out of my house.

There's a cool programme on at the moment called 'In the Womb' - different aspects of pre-birth children, with actual footage - has to be seen to be believed!
The animal one was beautiful - you haven't lived until you' ve seen an elephant, dog and dolphin embryo in the womb!

Congratulations! A baby is a blessing.
Padme did not know she was having twins because, if you read the Revenge Of The Sith book ( junior novel, by Patricia C. Wrede ) there was a part in it where Anakin and Padme are discussing whether they think the baby ( well, or babies ) is a boy or a girl. Padme thinks its a boy and Anakin thinks its a girl ( they were both right ) so we hope we helped with your question.
It is so nice to know that there will be another Star Wars fan soon!

You said that you wish they had put something like that scene we told you about in the movie, well, that scene was supposed to be in the movie, however, it was deleted. You can see in the special features DVD for Revenge Of The Sith they show some parts of it real quick, like Padme walking in with her two handmaidens. We wish that scene was in the film also or at least in Deleted Scenes, but maybe one day they will release more deleted scenes and that will be one of them.
