Ay Carumba!
My last blog taught me a real lesson. For some people, an honest opinion that does not line up with theirs is nothing short of heresy.

Honestly, it's indicative of a real problem with our culture (specifically Western culture) as it evolves into the era of YouTube and iPods. Basically, everyone is living in their own private Burger King ad: it's their way, right away. Dissent is not tolerated - how could you possibly want it any other way?

You see it very plainly in opinion shows on news networks. Especially on CNN, which tolerates no diversity of opinion. If you disagree with what they say, then you are a part of the opposition. It's part and parcel of our political system now, too. Either with them, or against them.

Both parties are at fault in a most heinous way; as each day goes by, I am more and more disappointed by politicians who campaign on the idea that things need to change, and then offer no substantive suggestions as to how to change them. It's like someone complaining that the you're not doing something right. So, you ask how to do it. "I don't know," they reply. "But it's just not right." Well, that's not helpful at all.

But it's the way we are now. There is no offer of solutions, no candor.

But what people have lost sight of most of all? That freedom of speech just means that they have the right to say what they want - not that everyone has to agree. Just tolerate.

Shame on us all, because we do choose to keep quiet instead of disagreeing. My poor office mate has learned first hand that I don't like the idea of staying silent to maintain the peace. If you disagree, speak up. It leads to lively discussions.

So keep the blasts of opinion coming. I welcome them. But know that if I think what you're saying is complete bunk, it's my right to let you know that, too.
