"
Padme Naberrie Amidala, former
Queen of
Naboo, and one time Senator from Naboo in the waning days of the Republic. She will always be remembered as one of the biggest but few voices of reason left in the Senate before the rise of the Empire. Her body was laid to rest in the royal city of
Theed, capitol of Naboo."

"Much has been spoken of the enigmatic, if not charismatic young senator from Naboo. Many articles have been written concerning her courage; especially her courage when as a young Queen of Naboo, she returned to her planet to free it from oppression. The press did not allow us to forget her bravery when she continued her unflinching campaign against the Military Creation Act even after she was nearly assasinated and consequently put under Jedi protection. Only when another attempt on her life was foiled, thank the Jedi, was she taken away from Coruscant to be better protected, with a Jedi bodyguard. I will tell you something that you will not see on the holonet. Something that thousands of the Naboo and several senators witnessed at her funeral. The "Brave" and "righteous" senator from Naboo was pregnant when she died, and she went pregnant to her grave. Many speculate, owing to the size of her belly, that she was almost to term, and so how was it that she remained in service to the senate in such delicate conditions. I'll tell you why. She hid her pregnancy! Obvious, you say? Yes! That is precisely my point. She deliberately tried to hide her pregnancy and the spin doctors of her friends in high places kept word of her "condition" out of the Holonet. It makes me wonder how many more secrets she kept from us. Rest assured the newly formed Empire will not allow such things to happen as they did in our former corrupt Republic."

Who really was Padme of Naboo? Her life meant more than what we can read above. She survived more than what has been reported, and she did not die pregnant. She was more than the Former Queen and Senator of Naboo, more than a brave freedom fighter when need be(and perhaps that is why she could never completely join the germinating rebellion) she was Anakin Skywalker's wife. Anakin Skywalker, one time Jedi Knight, whom became the Emperor's new right hand as Darth Vader during the rise of the Evil Empire. Matthew Stover's "Revenge of the Sith" suggests that her marriage to Skywalker defined her more than anything else in her life.....and I agree.
Many people see Padme's story as a tragedy. I too see it as a tragedy, but only a partial tragedy. She believed and hoped so fiercely that she lived long enough to give birth to the twin heroes that would save not only her husband but the galaxy. She was a Shatterpoint of such significance that her love transcended generations to slap Anakin back into the light through his son Luke. She convinced a Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to keep the
good memory of legendary Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker alive. Kept Obi-Wan from villifying Anakin to his children(although I doubt Kenobi would have done this) I take all this from her last actions and her dying words. She went to Mustafar to not only find out if what Obi-wan had told her was true, but to try and bring Anakin back if it was true. And she tried, and Vader's Jealousy and Greed, nearly killed HER, the woman he loved, the woman who loved him. Despicable, a tragedy, his story is..... She survived that horrific encounter with her husband and stayed alive to give birth to the product of their love. On her
DEATHBED she declared his goodness to his bestfriend! Clutching, fittingly, a token of his pure love for her. Obi-Wan may not had believed that there was good in Anakin then, He may not have realized how Padme's statement had influenced him. He also kept hope. Padme's son would realize this brave woman's knowledge, that Anakin Skywalker still had good in him, that it hadn't burned away.
Luke Skywalker and his twin sister
Leia, realized the magnificence of their birth mother by bringing their father from the dark to bring
balance to the force and thus saving the galaxy.
