A Jedi Must Not Know Love?
What? I don't get this Jedi code. Well, obviously, we all understand what happens when a Jedi becomes attached to a person or thing. But why this directive not to love?

After all, in Ep.II Anakin did say that Jedi were encouraged to show compassion, which according to him was uncondtional love. And wouldn't love be the anti-thesis of the darkside? Also, Anakin was not the only Jedi to have loved another person, not even the only Jedi to have gotten married!

So it would seem that quite a few of the Jedi agreed that this one little rule didn't really apply in all cases. Now, Anakin's love turned out to be his un-doing, since he couldn't, as Yoda put it, "let go of all the things you fear to lose." But, wasn't his love also what redeemed him in the end? The love a father has for his son? Or was it something else?

When you put into perspective the role of the Jedi, and the life they lead, it would be understandable to see why love is forbidden. They live self sacrificing lives, putting the lives of the citizens of the Republic before theirs everyday. They live to serve. They are neutral in all they do. Loving someone, being married to someone, would kinda put a cramp in that style.

But it's human nature to love.... And I could go in these circles all day. So, what's the bottom line? Was it the attachment that came with love, and not love itself that was forbidden? Or was love forbidden along with all the other things? And if it was forbidden, why?

Well, I doubt this blog was very informative...just my random thoughts and questions I have reguarding the Jedi Order.
