"...And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as THE SON OF THE SUNS." - Journal of the Whills, 3:127
"You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! Bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness!"
- Obi-Wan Kenobi, Revenge of the Sith
The Prophecy.
Those two words trigger an automatic response in every SW fan's head:
The Chosen One. Anakin Skywalker. Darth Vader.
And to some of the more die hard fans, perhaps:
THE SON OF THE SUNS.
In any case, this prophecy refers to the one who would destroy the Sith and bring balance to the Force. In other words, the young Jedi knight, Anakin Skywalker.
In 4 ABY he destroyed the Sith, high above the moon of Endor and thus fufiled the prophecy.
Or did he...
If you delve even a little into the EU, you will find the infamous account of the return of Sidious, in 8 ABY.
The Sith lord, through the teachings of Darth Plagueis, had found a way to cheat death.
It was only
three years after The Battle of Endor and Vader's death that Sidious was truly destroyed.
So why do we assume Anakin is the chosen one?
Luke fits the job perfectly; he grew up on Tatooine and thus is a SON OF THE SUNS.
The Whills did not make a mistake, but did we?
