I stayed at a hotel last night and they had ROTS available On Demand on the television, so I purchased the film. As I was watching, I noticed that the cut of the film was slightly different than the theatrical release. There were some of the obvious cuts that they do on a full screen format and a little tightening up, but there was one noticeable change to the film.
During the scene where the Jedi confront Palpatine, there seemed to be a different pace. I went back and watched it again and it looked like they removed the few frames where the two Jedi to Mace's right seem to be looking away when Palpatine attacks them. As Palpatine leaps out at them, the scene was re-cut to have him go straight into Agen Kolar with the lightsaber and then quickly nail Saesee Tiin, without having them look away. It also appeared that he sparred a little more with Kit Fisto before killing him as well. This made the initial attack flow better.
Has anybody else seen this On Demand cut of ROTS or any other cuts of the film? Also, does anybody know if they plan on doing an IMAX release like they did for AOTC?
Here are the cuts I have seen:
-Standard Theatrical Cut
-Digital Projection Cut
-On Demand Full Screen Television Cut
One thing I will say is that I was impressed with how great the film looked on the small screen. Yoda, in particular, looked great and very real. I'm looking forward to the DVD, which I think will be great.
