YouTube and fan-made Star Wars videos
Lucasfilm has been informed that YouTube recently removed from its site several fan-made Star Wars spoofs and parodies. We would like the fan film community to know that this was not done at our request.

Apparently the action was taken by YouTube as a result of a misunderstanding of a request to remove an item containing material taken from starwars.com without our permission. We have asked YouTube to restore any works that they inadvertently removed.

YouTube is a great resource. I'm glad this misunderstanding is being worked out by good communication. :)

Star Wars really is forever... on YouTube

Yep...Great videos, not only fan-made Star Wars spoofs, but actual music videos with today's latest hits...Real cool stuff. Thanks Lucasfilms for taking action. My faith might be restored yet.

A video of mine had been taken down, and I was worried that further repercussions might've followed; but I'm happy to say my video is back up now. I am once again pleased with the legal stance and actions of Lucasfilm towards the fans. = )

I'm glad you came out with the "official statement" otherwise people would start bad mouthing LFL for bullying YouTube or some such nonsense.

Awesome. It's great that we, as fans, get such good treatment from LucasFilm. I don't think there's anything quite like the Star Wars fandom.

If you've had a YT video of yours which has been affect (removed temporarily or completely) could you please post a text description of the video. Would be interesting to see how the internal content removal processes between these companies work.
thank in advance

What other fandom doesn't just tolerate fan creations based on their property, but goes so far as to ask a third party like YouTube to *put back up* fan works that had been improperly taken down?

Times like this I'm happy to call myself a Star Wars fan.

Thanks so much for Lucas Film. Some days ago Youtube turn off the trailer about "Shadows of the Empire" Fan Film with action figures, and the message was because Lucas Film ask to them make it, but two days later Youtube restored the video.
The Trailer:

The complete film:
www.shadowsfanfilm.com.br

This production is totally without lucrative ends and has the purpose to divulge Star Wars saga and Steve Perry novel.

You tube has been around for only one year (I think) and all of the hours of spent time watching it by people in the world adds up to about 94 years.

Cool!!
