Amazon.com lists "The Force Unleashed for Nintendo Wii" with an April 10, 2008, release date. Hopefully, Lucasfilm will keep that deadline, because with all the hype this game is getting, many are saying that it will be the iPhone of Star Wars video games.

Personally, I really want this game. I have a Wii, and this title will be in my home the day it comes out. I can't wait to try out the oft-desired "Wii-saber" aspect of the game. I have three extra remotes waiting for this game to come out, so I can challenge anyone in the tri-state area to a Lightsaber duel.

The game itself looks extremely well-designed. From the videos I have seen on StarWars.com, the designers and developers of The Force Unleashed appear competent and well-informed. And the technologies that will be integrated into the game are mind-bogglingly cool.

In addition, I'm looking forward to the storyline, and not even just how it fits into the gameplay. The background of Darth Vader's secret apprentice and how he integrates into Star Wars canon is sure to impress. And of course there's the element of destruction: throwing, choking, smashing, stabbing, and impaling swarms of stormtroopers are things no true Star Wars fan can resist. Especially when they're supposed to be on your side (Vader's apprentice is, obviously, in the Empire). On a side note, what gives with that?
