Vader: "What's my motivation here?"
I am very glad to hear that the book Star Wars: Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader will be coming out in November. The one troubling thought that I had at the end of Revenge of the Sith was, "how can Anakin carry on, what is his motivation for living?". The novel seems to hint that the reason he does not try to kill Palpatine after being "reborn" is that Palpatine is all he has left...that and his anger and desire for control and power. But is that enough?

I hope that this new book will give us an answer on that question. Anakin has lost his love, his friends and to a large extent, his humanity. It would be very difficult in that situation to still have a purpose for living, to still have a goal in life. Anakin continues as Darth Vader for about 20 years before Luke gives him new purpose. But what about before then? What is he thinking? We know he still has some good in him, and that he has no particular deep rooted love for the emperor. I will be very interested in probing those questions through this upcoming book.

I hope we get insight into Darth Vaders motivations and plans, as well as his developing relationship with Palpatine, his new Sith master. I hope we actually get information on Sith training.

Let's look forward to this one.
