The Insider's Latest: 100 Best Things About Star Wars
The 100th issue of the Insider appeared in my mailbox today with the much anticipated "100 BEST THINGS ABOUT STAR WARS...EVER!"

Boy, was I let down. I understand for editing and other purposes owing to the enterprise renting its magazine space, that some characters cannot make the list while others do, but alas. We have come to the day where Jar Jar Binks, at #55, ranks higher than the X-wing fighter, Darth Vader's suit, C-3PO, Wookiees, ARC troopers, TIE fighters, Wedge Antilles, Admiral Ackbar, and most stunning of all: Shaak Ti and jawas. GASP! I know, right?

Sure, there are others, but these, I felt, were far more iconic and deserved a better spot than given. Even if Jar Jar was the cause of all of our heroes problems by proposing the motion that granted Palpy emergency powers in the Senate, even if this is a crucial plot point, even if he brought Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon to Boss Nass to form an indelible relationship that thrust the tide of the battle on the Naboo front in favor of the good guys, even if all of these things involved pivotal Jar Jar, I still wish my poor Shaak Ti and jawas had made it much, much higher than him.

One question lingers in my mind: If the suit was included, why wasn't Vader's breathing? How much more iconic can you get people??

I am glad, however, that Mara (#21) and Luke made the list (even if at #9). Ah, Luke. You will always be my #1.

ETA: Just realized the Force didn't make it on the list!
