The relationship between Anakin and the Jedi Council is a central point, even if not the only one, in the Chosen One's fall to the dark side.
The question rising in my mind , and probably in others too, is why the Jedi Council that showed in
Attack of the Clones a complete trust and faith in Anakin changed idea three years saying even destroying the Sith and bringiging balance to the Force could not be Anakin's destiny , or in other words that the Profecy could have been misinterpreted.
Symptomatic of this change is the relationship between Skywalker and Mace Windu: the Jedi Master in Episode II had more faith in Anakin's abilities than Obi-Wan, the only one who continued in someway to trust the young Jedi until the "birth" of Darth Vader, in Episode III showed a feeling of distrust for Anakin.
If Mace and the Council chanced idea so radically in three years there must be a reason, a vey important reason, some event who crumbled the trust they once showed. The answer can be only one, or so I think : Anakin's friendship with Chancellor Palpatine, he was too close to him.
In three years of war the Jedi saw the Chancellor incrising his personal pwer, derogating to Constitutional rights; trying to transfor the Republic in something of personal.
Anakin was a friend of Palpatine, he considered the Chancellor as his mentor, he trusted Palpatine "good faith" in preserving the Republic and the Council's regard begun to dimish.
Distrust played a pivital role in Anakin's downfall, both the Council's and Anakin's, like trust played an euqal pivital role in Anakin's redemption : the trust and love for his son.
