One of the most awiated Star Wars events of 2006, probaly the most awaited one, is the release of the original theatrical version of the final Episodes of the mighty Star Wars Saga.
The moment is getting cloeser, so I think its time to explain why this event is so "legendary".
I am a devoted
Fan of the so called
Special Editions becuase I think they amplified the magnificence of the Original Trilogy by establishing a strong connection and continuity beetwen the two trilogies.
The Special Editions not only improved the video and audio quality of the original movies but even harmonized this episodes with the Prequels concerning the plot (see, for example, the McDiarmid-Palpatine appearance in ESB and Christensen-Anakin Skywalker appearance in ROTJ), the "visual aspect" of the Star Wars life and universe (the same quality and style of the movie shots make the audiance feell to be the viewer of the same epic story), the "care for details" (the Original version lack of the quanty of details that made the Star Wars movie wondeful): You only need to read
this article to appreciate the "overwhelming innovetion" of the Special Edition (wel now at this point we should call it the canonical or regular editions).
Even though these innovation were neccesary in order to fill an otherwise intolerable difference between the Prequel and the Original Trilogy, the first "unaltered" version of the Star Wars movies didn't loose their importance because they play a very important "historical" role in the life of every Star Wars Fans: many of us begun our journey toward this woderful universe thanks to this first, and somehow raw (compared to what we are now used to see in a Star Wars movie) edition of these Movies that changed forever the history of Cinema.
The "unaltered" versions of the Star Wars movies represent the beginig of a process that changed the history and culture of moder cinem; they were the "first step into a large world", a world of epicity and perfection worthily simbolyzed by the digitally mastered Star Wars Movies.
