BioWare Working on KOTOR III!

Last fall, LucasArts and BioWare announced that they are working on a game together. Then, Electronic Arts purchased BioWare and Pandemic. Since then, there have been all sorts of rumors about what the LucasArts/BioWare game is. KOTOR III? A KOTOR MMO? An MMO to tie into the live action TV series? Something else?

But in an EA Analyst Report yesterday, we finally discovered the truth. BioWare is working on the next Mass Effect, Dragon Age, a new MMO, and... the next Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic!

This is awesome news to anyone who loves Star Wars games, RPGs, BioWare, or all of the above! Now, we just need the official announcement.

Update 2: TeamXbox, Joystiq, and IGN are reporting that, according to EA, a KOTOR game is not in development.

Of course, a few months ago, Lucasfilm said that they had no plans to release Star Wars: The Clone Wars in theaters in the beginning of August. Now look when it's coming out: August 15th, 2008. So, the KOTOR game could still be in development.

	Smuggler Jedi Hokey Religions and A Good Blaster at My Side
date Posted: Feb 13, 2008 11:46 AM If that is true, I'm excited about it. I wouldn't call this an official announcement though. The news was actually slipped by the report. I'll be interested to find out more when LA and Bioware get around to telling fans more about the game.

It's not an "announcement" where they come out and say "We're making this game!" But EA owns BioWare. If they say BioWare is making a game, then BioWare is making that game.

Many game "announcements" are revealed through analyst reports, financial forecasts, etc. So, while LucasArts and BioWare haven't put up a news article about it, it is happening.

Either way, I don't care. KOTOR III is coming!

date Posted: Feb 13, 2008 2:13 PM Hold on one second. A new Kotor game has been announced, not Kotor 3. Not yet, anyway. I sure want to see it, but I'd keep your eyes on LucasartsBioware.com for an announcement if it's Kotor 3.

date Posted: Feb 13, 2008 2:36 PM I'm not saying I don't want a Kotor III, I do. I'm just saying that it could be, even though I'm not sure, revenue reporting for the original game. That sheet is reporting for their stocks, after all. I'm not sure if I believe that, but we'll see what happens

I'm getting a little worry about EA owning Bioware. I don't know all the details, but luckly I heard something about EA not getting to call all the shots on Bioware's licensed games such as KotOR, the new Sonic RPG, etc.

I just hope this new KotOR thing isn't an MMO. Even if I wanted it, my PC wouldn't be able to run it. Plus, the subscription would cost a fortune if I know EA...

date Posted: Feb 13, 2008 5:31 PM Yeah, I agree. I really hope it's a KOTOR RPG, not an MMO. MMO's are just to expensive at $15/mo. And people say Xbox LIVE is expensive at $5/mo? The good thing is, from the analyst report, it appears that it's going to be KOTOR 3 - an RPG.
