What is a Star Wars fan?
Note to readers: I feel this must be said but in the best way. I'm trying to get my opinion out there without stepping on anyone's toes. I am not trying to tell you how to think.

I have read countless blogs in the last month and have agreed and disagreed with many of you and your points of view. It is obvious that many of you are strong in your beliefs on unanswered questions or hints throughout the saga. It is also clear that many of you have lost touch with the saga or simply blog without realizing that your subject has been written about a thousand times over.

Is it possible that many of the "fans" that post the blogs on this website are just following the stream of endless "Palpatine/midi-chlorian" or "I hate Jar Jar Binks" blogs?

Of course, I have to give credit to the originals posters of these blogs because they got them out of the way.

Think about it. Do you really think Mace Windu could have survived that fall? With no subtle hints he was alive, George Lucas' story of jedi genocide hanging in the air and Yoda's reaction on Kashyyyk? Give me a break.

What many "fans" fail to grasp is that this is, in fact, George Lucas' story. This is George Lucas telling George Lucas' version of George Lucas' story of six crucial points in the history of a galaxy far far away.

Now, I'm not under the delusion that these movies were based on real events. I know the force isn't real and sadly we'll probably never have a lightsaber.

If you want to come in here and write about how the Ewoks sucked, Lucas can't write a love story and Jar Jar was the death of the prequels then you might as well buy some Spock ears and look for the next Star Trek Convention. Lucas shouldn't have to put up with this kind of stuff from so called "fans" of the saga.

I have wanted to say this for a long time: It's not your story. It's not my story. So who are we to say that Lucas can't write? Who are we to say that Darth Vader should have come straight into Episode One bypassing the epic story of the prequels?

I can't and I won't because this is not the way I think. I am a fan, short for fanatic. Many people have lost sight of what that really means. A Star Wars fan embraces the story with all of their heart. Star Wars is what it is, the best story of all time. It was meant to be the way it is for a reason. Everything comes together beautifully and without one part, everything could come crashing down from within. Disagreeing with every little detail only brings it down for future generations. I know that I will try to instill the love for Star Wars that I have into my children, and hopefully they into theirs.

I salute Mr. Lucas on a fine storytelling job. It is because of him that I am posting this. It's because of him that you are posting your blogs. I hope that what I have said has awoken a new wave of fresh threads for the blogs. I look forward to reading them in the future.
