Fighting the Princess, naming a SW character & bringing home Vader!
Well it's been a while since I blogged, so I thought I would just fill everyone in on the various SW happenings in my boring little life. :)

Okay, so in October I went to the Dallas Sci-Fi convention, it was great. I was a little nervous because I had never been to one, but I had some friends to keep me company. But what prompted me to go to this thing was the fact that Carrie Fisher was going to be there! I have loved Carrie since I was a wee lass - 3 to be exact. I even had a Raggedy Ann doll that I renamed Carrie, corny I know, but what can you expect I was about 5 at the time. So I am at this convention, and I am standing in the autograph line for Carrie's autograph. Well I have my 7 year-old son Fox with me, and since he is bored out of his mind just standing in line, he starts moving away from me and playing with MY lightsaber. And that was fine with me, as long as he was in eyesight and not hurting anyone.....so I am getting extremely nervous because I am about to meet my idol, I am just a few mere inches from her when I hear her say "You are just adorable, what do you have for me to sign"??:|
Just a little taken aback, I followed her line of sight and saw that she was talking to my son!! He was completely unaware that Princess Leia was addressing him, then this one lady in her entourage said, "Oh look at his t-shirt, it's so cute!" Then this guy from Carrie's entourage asked if he could take his picture. So I said yes, because why wouldn't I - I'm not in the witness protection program - and it was going to be with my childhood idol! So they stripped him of his backpack and took pictures of his shirt, which said I wish my babysitter was a Hooter's girl then the guy said let's see you fight Princess Leia. Now remember, this is my childhood idol, not his, so I am just a little jealous that I wasn't asked to stand on the table and fight the Princess. So they guy lifts Fox up and puts him on the table, and starts taking action shots of my child fighting Princess Leia with his lightsaber (at least he didn't actually hit her with it - I would have been mortified)! And that is how my son's modeling career got started. The entourage girl asked for his name, age, and where he lived which I allowed him to answer. But I don't know where these pictures will be published or if they even will be published. So I googled my son to see if I could find him online, well he isn't on there yet, but for only $29.95 I can receive a credit and criminal history report on him! So just to let you know, I was a little jealous, I did get to talk to Carrie, and found her to be quite nice, then I got my autograph and went on to spend more money at the convention! . . . .

Then when in line to see Steve Sansweet, Fox started joking around with Steve. He is great by the way, I was actually engaged in a conversation with him right before his presentation, and I didn't even know it was him! Anyway when Steve asked my Fox for his name Steve said "that's a great name, it sounds like a Star Wars name, I'll have to remember that and tell George". {he normally goes by his middle name, so that is the name he gave Steve} Okay, now this might just be a line that he says to all children, especially since there are not going to be anymore movies, but I still got a kick out of it! That was about all that happened to me at the convention, or I should actually say that happened to Fox at the convention. :D

But get this, Halloween night, during the midnight release party at the local video store I'm standing around and talking with all the employees Fox is again playing with MY lightsaber and engaging in battles with other people there. Well I didn't know that there was a costume contest so we didn't dress up. But this one employee decided to dress up Fox. So she put a black cape on him, and someone else in the store gave him a "real" lightsaber and he won the contest! With nothing but a Cape and a Lightsaber, that was alright cause he won an Episode III 1:7 scale replica of Darth Vader! It's great, but now I have to add a shelf somewhere in my house so that I can display Vader. :x

And that my friends is how Fox fought the Princess, named a character and brought home Darth Vader! :p
