Master Yoda's Visions(by a "Dutch Yoda")

Master Yoda's Exile
After his defeat in the Senate Yoda went into Exile, but what he did during his first couple of weeks on Dagobah is still a mystery. I have had a theory on this for some time now and I think it is time to share it with you.

When master Yoda arrived on Dagobah he had no home all he had was the pod he arrived in. We al know Yoda went to Dagobah because he knew that the planets strong dark side aura would conceal his presence even from Vader. The first and most logical thing for him to do after he arrived was to find a reliable food source, there was enough wild life and eatable plants on the planet so food wasn't going to be a problem.
He probably spend The first night in his pod since he did not have time to build a hut. The first morning on his new home planet he started building his hut, because he used the Force he probably got most of it done in one day. At the end of the first day he had a hut to sleep in. It wasn't entirely finished but he had a roof over his head, He had a Home.
During the next couple of days he completed his hut an scouted his new home planet.
He knew that no matter how hard Vader or Sidious tried they would not find him, at least not until it was to late. Yoda was a Wise and Power full Jedi, but he knew he could not defeat The Empire on his own. He knew he had to wait until a young Jedi, a Skywalker was old enough to be trained and able to confront his/her father.

During his time on Dagobah Yoda meditated a lot, he communed with Qui-Gon and prepared him self for the day that the force would call upon him to train another Jedi. He lived in peace on Dagobah and waited patiently for his last Apprentice to arrive.

All Comments are welcome and Remember, The Force Will Be With You..........Always. B-)

PS This blog inspired Apprentice Of Wisdom to write a Blog on what visions Yoda could be having during his Solitude on Dagobah, I think it is a Blog worth reading.

Very interesting, but that only explains the first days. Ah well, I guess he didn't have a lot more to do, except to survive. He at least practiced one very good virtue: patience. His solitude was enormous, many non-Jedi would have gone mad. But he had his own goal, and a lot to think and meditate about. The latest happenings, the future, the solution. He had to find the answers before the next Jedi would arrive, if it would come that far.

You've left me with a lot to think about. I guess I'll need some solitude for my own now.
Nice blog, May the Force be with You too. B-)

You could be right, but exploring his new home was going to take him a bit longer than a couple of days, I guise I forgot to mention that.

Interesting,
Do you think Yoda used parts from his pod to build his hut? I'd like to think he did, kinda like they do things in Lego Star Wars. :D then he moved vines and things from the trees over on top of it.

That's a very interesting blog. I agree with jedi_iain. I think he used parts of his pod to construct his humble little abode. Is he a vegeterian?:D

Is he a vegetarian I don't know, the only meal we see him prepare is as green as he is. It is possible he only ate plants during his stay on Dagobah, Interesting question.

Very interesting. I have often wondered what Yoda did in his solitude, especially during those first few days and weeks. I am sure it took some getting used to, and building things from "scratch" (i.e. his hut and other surroundings). I felt sad for him as I watched the deleted scene when he exits the pod...especially since I knew the years of solitude he would have ahead of him :( .

Good imagination! I'm sure much of that happened. It sort of reminds me of Tom Hanks in CastAway...do you think Yoda pounded his chest and yelled "FIRE! LOOK WHAT I HAVE CREATED!!" ??? Or perhaps talked to an old trainig droid stained with blood from his hand?? LOL!!! :p

On a more serious note, Yoda didn't live entirely in peace, he also had some battle practice - the Drak Jedi Bpfasshi and Jorj Car'das went to Dagobah and...well...if you haven't read the Thrawn Duology (specifically Vision of the Future), I won't spoil it for you..... ;) I highly suggest it if you haven't read it - great books! :D

Great thoughts, jedimca0! I don't think we really think too much about what Yoda was up to those early months - or even years - on Dagobah. Even for a great Jedi Master, survival would be the foremost thought - and aim.

It's interesting, we spend countless blogs on almost everthing and anything...yet this is the first one I ever read on Yoda's first moments in exile. Nice job! I agree, it was probably a very traumatic time for this extremely serious Jedi Master. He more than likely spent most of his time in solitude, training with Qui-Gon. Learning the "eternity" ways of the Force and watching over young Luke.....and quite possibly the beautiful little Leia.

i like this blog friend-wow!.....i think your right about yoda,i just think personally that he probally spent alot of time talking with obi-won also-remember at the end of ROTS when he said all that stuff about qui gon??.....well im sure yoda had to speak with obi-won through the force to be able to teach Obi-won the exercises.....

I agree with most of what you said. Yoda went to dagobah and starting building a hut, and spent most of his time meditating, talking to qui-gon, training, waiting for obi-wan and luke and preparing for the fight against the empire. I disagree with one thing though, i dont think yoda chose dagobah because of the dark side aura. I thought he picked it because it was remote, and a jungle planet, where it would be hard to find anyone. Especially because it was dangerous and no one would probably want to live there. Good Blog though.

He probably used parts and supplies from the pod. He probably packed before he left. I think he just found a nice place near a tree which would be secure to live.

so, Master Yoda was in exile for 18 years between Episodes III and IV? how about the 100 years he was in exile before this trilogy began. What do you guys think he was doing then? I read this in Wikipedia but it doens't give any details as to what his activities were. 100 years in solitude -- that's why he's Master Yoda...any insights would be appreciated...

StaWarsVStarwTrek. that is eu. Yoda wasnt really in exile before the trilogy. He just trained jedi, and served the republic. the eu doesnt fit in the starwars story. by the way, this is for everyone... i think it would be cool if there was a blog about shadows of the empire. It doesnt fit into the trilogy that much. I would like to find out about that once i got more info. Not to divert attention from the blog. Great blog

We never see the pod in 5 or 6, so what if he made that into his hut? Over the years it would get bigger as he added more to it.

Frankly, I don't believe the little guy could have found a better planet to hide out on. It was already well-known that his taste in food/his eating habits were similar to those of a channel-catfish, and he preferred the wild over living in a concrete covered planet where there was little natural connection to the Living Force.
Plus, he did have Qui-Gon to talk to so it couldn't have been too bad...

Yes you are right. That does sound like something Master Yoda would do. He would of communed with Qui-Gonn. You are absolutely right on everything! May the force be with you!

because he used the Force he probably got most of it done in one day.

And on the second day he said, "Let there be central heating". And lo, there was central heating.

Yes, he would commune with Qui-Gon; but would he maybe contact Obi-Wan to make sure he's still alive or to find out if Luke's still is. And what about Senator Bail and Leia?

I agree with Greenandwhitejedi that he'd probably done all that building thing in one day. And I don't think solitude will bother him, since he meditates a lot in his life and he's busy to think of a way to accelerate training of jedi. Remember in the good old days it takes years to fully train a jedi, but Luke only had very short time. Coming out of a better and faster way to train Luke would consume all his time on Dagobah.

Very interesting.... Yoda was 900 years old; perhaps this was not his first stay at Degoba?
Certainly a planet like this must have been populated at some point in its history. Yoda perhaps knew of some caves or what-not that would have been more hospitable. He probably chose the home he did because it was comfortable for him, and was centralized in the 'Luke-Skywalker-Training-Camp' he meant to set up. I sometimes also wonder if his battle with Palps somehow left him weakened, and contributed to his death? Perhaps he knew this was his last Jedi mission?

It is possible that the dual somehow weakened him, I believe Yoda knew that training Luke was his Final Mission. I have to say he did an exemplary job.

Interesting thoughts. I would think that Yoda would stake his time building his hut and thus would not use the Force. As a Jedi Master of his calibur, he'd not have that much problem with weather or predators. B-)

If it hasn't been mentioned already...Ultimate Locations shows that Yoda did indeed use escape pod parts in his hut.
