Emperor Palpatine had for seen that he would crush the rebel alliance and turn Luke to the dark side. If he really saw in to the future why did his vision not come true. I have come up with two possibilities.

One:
Is it possible that the someone planted this vision to make the Emperor blind to what was really happening. And if someone did plant that vision, who was that someone.
It had to have been a person that was strong with the Force, Yoda perhaps. But if he did do this why did he not tell Luke about it?
My question is was Yoda strong enough to mislead the Emperor, and make him blind to the truth.

Or was there a different reason for the Emperors failure, I believe there was.

Two:
It is far more likely that Emperor Palpatine didn't for see the future, he only saw what he wanted to see. He wanted to crush the Rebel Alliance and have Luke as his apprentice instead of Vader. He underestimated not only Luke's ability to resist him and Vader's love for Luke, he also greatly underestimated the Rebellions Military Power. He thought he could simply defeat them with a fleet of Star Destroyers, a lot of bad fighters(with even worse pilots) and a Super Laser. I won't even mention one the "best legions in the Empire" that happened to be defeated by an Army of cute little man eating bears, because that was just embarrassing.

The Emperor didn't pay any attention to the battle's that were being fought around the death star and on the moons surface, the only thing he paid any attention to was the duel between Luke and Vader.
If he had taken a moment to see that the rebellion was winning he might have been able to escape, or send additional troops and ships to fight the rebellion.
The vision he had made him think he was invincible, he was wrong.
