Anakin's "Tragedy"
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has previously commented on my other blogs, and to all of those who will comment on this one or others. Now, to the blog at hand.

I thought of this earlier, while playing pool. Was Anakin's story really a "tragedy"? I thought back to my earlier lessons on English this year, and remembered something about tragedies. This is according to Aristotle's Poetics, written in about 350 B.C. He showed what a tragedy could and could not be.

A tragedy can not be imitative of the villanous-it is not shcoking

A tragedy can not be imitative of saintly men gone bad-repulsive

But does deal with mortal men who go from good to bad fortune because of some mistake.

Now, I see Anakin falling under number 2, don't you? A good person (little 9 year old Annie helping out the travelers) who turns bad (I pledge myself to your teachings....rise Darth Vader)

This to me is the real Anakin. A good person gone bad. So in that case, his story really isn't tragic. And when he kills Palpatine, that does not fit a classic tragic ending, it is a joyful one.

Thanks for all the comments, and God bless.

By the way, here is a link to my favorite blog for those who missed it, Star Wars and MaterCard.
