For those who have not read Outbound flight but want to, please avert your eyes.
I have just finished reading Outbound Flight for the second time, and now I will write a blog about it. I would rank the book at 3 out of 4 stars, for a few reasons.
1. It's battle scenes with Thrawn are incredibly well thought out. Thrawn comes up with tricks that shouldn't be possible, and it maked it that much better to read.
2. The Jedi involvement (Jorus C'baoth) on Outbound Flught is astounding. This really shows C'baoth's true character to be demanding, overconfident, and very rude. Zhan's previous works with him show this also, but then he is simply a clone, and not the real one.
3. Many revelations are made about future events. Sidious talks to Thrawn (who later becomes Grand Admiral for Palpatine), and the Vuzzhan Vong are mentioned. Palpatine says that he can feel their presence, and Thrawn says he fought them. This is very interesting, and it shocked me when I first read it.
However, I do not really like Zahn's portrayl of Quennto or Maris. Both characters are flat characters, with only a few traits. These sections of the book are less enjoyable, but certainly not boring.
Not to mention, Outbound Flight is one of the most important things in galactic history. In one of the X Wing books, Wedge Antilles is cited to have wished Outbound Flight would reappear to help the New Republic fight the Empire.
Also, if anyone knows, how was C'baoth cloned? And by whom?
Thanks to all, and God bless.
