To be or not to be...
Greetings! I have chosen a difficult topic for my first foray into blogdom. I have never done this before so please bear with me.

I will begin by saying that I don't buy the "fact" that Anakin Skywalker is the Chosen One. I know, I know, that directly contradicts GL which is taboo. However, I will explain my tilting at windmills.

From what little information we can glean from movies and books, the prophecy states simply that there will be a person to come along and bring balance to the Force by destroying the Sith. In my mind, that is impossible. By definition, to balance something means roughly to equalize or to make even. Destroying the Sith would only erase one side of the equation. What balance is then created? And what good is destroying the Sith if the Dark Side still remains? The Sith are only followers of an ideal, remember. I believe that the Dark Side is meant to be used, very rarely, and only in extreme circumstances. I know that this has been discussed, but I believe that there is only the Force and the intent in which it is used. And who is it that brings this to the Jedi Order?

LUKE SKYWALKER

It is he who advances this ideal, so to speak. Anakin by destroying the Sith is doing nothing to balance anything, (if he actually does destroy the Sith, but that's another topic for another time) therefore discounting the main part of the prophecy. Luke has actually attained that balance that was prophesied. Let the comments, begin.
