Okay so I have been seeking out and buying books lately. Star Wars books mostly ... I recently posted about the super duper awesome THE MAKING OF STAR WARS book in a blog HERE

There are so many fine books available about Star Wars. I recently found a Dark Horse Panel To Panel art book at a local comic book shop where I also found some other SW goodies but those other goodies are for another blog entry.

The Dark Horse panel To panel book is this one here in the photos below. As you can see the artwork in them is just beautiful. The book is also huge and like a big coffee table book. I got it for $19.95 which if you buy SW books that are big and have art in them is an absolute steal.

Now for the good stuff .... I was driving by a shop I had not noticed before, a book store. A Mom and Pop book store chock full of used books. The white hand painted sign out front of it said "80,000 books sale".

Well I thought to myself ... out of 80,000 books there must be something Star Wars in there. I go in and ask if they have Star Wars books ... she says they do but not many. They had about 20 books which is okay I guess.

I noticed that they had 10 times that in Star Trek books that i was told by her that they didn't sell. She also said that they rarely get Star Wars books as people for the most part do not part with them.

On the sci-fi shelf I found the first novel released in 1978 as the thirteenth edition pictured HERE the shape it is in is absolutely wonderful for a paperback book and cost a mere $1.50 ... it has inserted in the middle of it some photo pages from the film. These have a very grainy nostalgic look to them I might add ... before good ole Georgie went and cleaned up the films.

I then snooped around the shop and saw not one but TWO of the other original trilogy books ... also in great shape and also for $1.50 each!! I took two photos OF THE TWO BOOKS ... HERE IS TESB and also this one HERE ... ROTJ which also has a photos insert of pages of nice promo type photos and photos from the film.

I also found a Special Edition paperback for Episode IV which is good. I did not have this one. I took a picture of the cover which you can see HERE I did not fret about not finding the other two OT Special Edition books ... part of collecting is making an excuse to collect haha. I will hunt down the other books to make a set.

Well my little book adventure did not stop there, they also had a small hardcover TESB book seen HERE ... not in mint shape but tolerable. The book itself is in fine shape but the paper cover has seen a bit of a better day. It looks good used though in my humbled opinion.

I then saw the coolest one in the lot in my opinion, the TESB version that is an illustrated version. it contains the text of the book and ... get this .... RALPH MCQUARRIE SKETCH ART ALL OVER THE PLACE! Most of the pages had these little penciled McQuarrie art to help give a visual to what you were reading. SUPERB.

The cover as you can see is also in near mint shape seen HERE and also you can see two shots I took of the sketchwork in them. AWESOME!! HERE and HERE

So that was it for the Star Wars stuff though they did have several hard cover Star Wars novels that were the Expanded Universe. I do not follow the EU very much so I was not interested in those. I am sure many here would be however for the prices they have them at. I bought two hard cover books for $3.50 each there so I would think these would be around there somewhere. I think she had said 1/3 of the cover price is what she sold her books for.

Anyway I found two other books NON-Star Wars but were of other stories I have liked over the years. The first one is of a book I had years and years ago and lost so I have refound it for $1.50 and that would be THE BLACKHOLE!

Then I saw a very cool book of a very cool movie I really liked from the 1980s and that was KRULL!!!

So there they are .... books boooks boooks. Reading is good so do it often.
