Most popular bands at one time or another release a Best Of compilation, designed to gain new fans, and cause debates and riots amongst the old ones. So, here is my vain attempt to choose the best of the best when it comes to Star Wars music. I'm going to try and be fair in choosing music over all six films, and regardless of fan opinions of the prequels, anyone who says the music has gone downhill between trilogies deserves a good slap. So here it is:

1 - Star Wars Main Theme - All Six Episodes
This one is a bit of a given really!

2 - The Imperial March - Episode V
Still causes any self-respecting Imperial to swell up inside.

3 - Duel of the Fates - Episode I
Something the prequels have going for them: choirs! This is just spine chilling.

4 - Battle of the Heroes - Episode III
See above!

5 - The Return of the Jedi - Episode VI
The theme that plays from when Luke is walking the plank, up to the gang's escape from Tatooine. Heroism at its best.

6 - Yoda's Theme - Episode V
Still brings a tear to my eye.

7 - Across the Stars - Episode II
Classic love theme, this!

8 - Into the Trap - Episode VI
This is from my favourite scene in ROTJ, when the Rebel Fleet arrives at Endor.

9 - Ben's Death / TIE Fighter Attack - Episode IV
This is absolutely classic Star Wars. Very memorable stuff.

10 - Padme's Ruminations - Episode III
Spooky, very un-Star Warsy, but fantastic non-the-less.
