Storytelling has been a medium of hilarity and tears for longer than anyone still living today can possibly remember. There is something inherent that draws simple folks, like us, to such stories. It's the opportunity to escape for a short while. A chance to detach from our daily lives for a few hours. Perhaps it is the swashbuckling heroes, the fanciful worlds, or that tender kiss from the maiden in distress that call to our attentions. Whatever the dynamics may be, stories are something that never can grow old.

Every single person is a storyteller. Our lives are moving picture books and we are the main characters. Every story that has ever been told has been the result of some personal experience. In a sense, then, I am a firm believer that no life is boring. It's just that we have to search for the excitement that may be lying carefully in our lives. And, there doesn't always have to be excitement either. But, there is always a story to tell.

What will future storytellers bring us? All stories are a retelling of another story, but in a different way. Think of how back in hunter gatherer times as a story was told and passed along from tribe to tribe and it slowly evolved from Ugg milking the cow to Ugg single handedly fending of a hoard of ravenous wolves attempting to devour his entire herd and still coming home to Uggette that night with a bucket of milk. This is what keeps stories alive.

There is always a separate way of retelling a story. Look at a character like Batman. He has been reinvented more than a dozen times and he's still fresh and exciting. In fact, I think that the latest movie adaptation is the BEST yet. There's no stopping any of us from adding to a story our own little personal nuances or reinventing it from the ground up. Stories keep our lives interesting and give us a sense that there is something more out there.

They inspire us, make us cry, and make us laugh. I'm confident that tomorrow's future storytellers will continue to keep us on our toes. And, if we all do have stories to tell, what's stopping anyone from weaving their own masterpieces?
