The End of Days
I just had an idea for a book that would be after the Legacy of the Force series. The End of Days. The Star Wars Galaxy has been around for a while, so let's say a major cataclysm strikes and the galaxy is obliterated. Somehow one of the Jedi learns of this through a force vision, remember Jacen in the Dark Nest trilogy? The entire galaxy is in panic when entire worlds are being shattered. Many are trying to escape the galaxy and find a different one, maybe the Vong galaxy.
But this would be about the turmoil and chaos the end of the galaxy would bring. Millions would escape the galaxy, trillions would die.

Well, that's it for now but feel free to comment.

You may wanna pick another name as End of Days is already a Schwarzenegger movie, a really bad one at that...

Aren't people just going to make more books about those who make it to the new galaxy? In theory you could write Star Wars books non-stop, and I don't think Lucas is going to have his fanchise end with a book...

I tell you what mate, that's a really good concept for a sci-fi series in itself, let alone Star Wars.
An entire galaxy, being destroyed world by world, and the survivors have to locate a new galaxy.
It's like Battlestar Galactica on a HUGE scale.

Isn't that the NJO, if the Vong had succeeded?

(Galaxy destroyed planet by planet, survivors have to leave, people die)

I like the idea, but not for Star Wars. Writers still have the older generation: Luke, Han, Leah, Lando, and the new generation: Jacen, Jainia, Baby Ben, and so on. STAR WARS BOOKSWILL NEVER END!

The books will end when Luke, Han and Leia die. I don't think people like the next gen characters enough to make a successful book series.

hey , man, i support you completely. if you sreiously want to right a book, by all means do it.

have fun, and just use your imagination. Now this book idea is a good one, just not yet...

there are lot of people out there that want to write SW books, so dont just end their ideas now.

jot down your ideas, and then try to come up with another story.

even after the SW galaxy is destroyed, books can be written on the lives of certain ppl during the disaster, or how life in another galaxy was like. Also, how many ppl tried to return and restart lives in their beloved galaxy after the catastrophe was over. you could even make a series!

I don't really like that idea, the main reason being that would be the end of the Star Wars Universe everyone knows and loves...

The last Star Wars book has already been written. Didn't anyone ever read the end of ROTJ? I'll quote it: "The Empire was dead. Long live the Alliance." This is equivalent to the fairy tale ending, "And they all lived happily ever after."

So, other than the behind the scenes type of books, there is nothing more to be written after ROTJ. This is also why Lucas has clearly stated that there will be no more Star Wars movies. It's over. As Mark Hamill said, every single detail was wrapped up in ROTJ so that the saga was finished. And because of the greatness of this 6 movie epic, we the fans all live happily ever after.

All I think is that there should be comics, books, etc that would fill in the gaps from 5,000 years B.B.Y through 35 years A.B.Y in the timeline before thinking of the last book after 35 years A.B.Y. My feelings are that the "last book" is to darn depressing to think of.

I like Star Wars novels, but sometimes I just want to say, "LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!" It never ends, there's always some new enemy to mess things up. Let the people live in peace. That's how it should end. Peace was the main purpose of the Rebellion and New Republic. Peace before war was practically a mission statement for the Jedi. It's bad enough that they killed off Chewbacca and other major characters died/were killed. It's time they got a permanent vacation for a good long rest.

That sounds like a really good book. I would love a starwars book like that. Then more starwars books talking about how they found a new galaxy and they prospered there. It would be awesome. I never get tired of starwars books. No matter what. They could bring those books non-stop and I would keep on reading them ti'll I died. Nice blog and really good idea.

What if....The person or few persons who escape the Star Wars Galaxy are the ones who bring the story to a certain guy named George Lucas. "A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far Far Away." Maybe it's a Jedi who lived a very long time. Maybe it's just some old long-living alien. Maybe George IS that alien.

Ooooooo. So then the really insane fanatics who take the Jedi way as their ACTUAL religion would then believe that George was their God and he was some ancient Jedi. So maybe all us normal fans who love the story would now know it actually happened. Then we could storm Skywalker Ranch and demand that George train us in the Jedi ways just so we wouldn't have to get out of bed to turn the light off and get chips and beer from the fridge without getting up. That would be sweeeeeet.

It is an intriguing thought for the galaxy to rnd on a force implosion, but it just isn't right to end the long decades of the expanded universe by having the galaxy suddenly blow up. As far as Luke, Han, Mara, and Leia dying...I know that the Solos wouldn't really be adequate enough to carry it into the future, but perhaps Ben Skywalker can carry on the legacy for us. We still have an abundance of time to explore the pre TPM stories as well.

Here's an idea. Write your book, but set it an unspecified amount of time in the future. Completely new set of characters, but maybe a few of them have familiar last names. People won't know whether it's 50 or 5,000 years in the future(crazy stuff can happen in that galaxy. with all the wars going on a lot of people could die, technology could be lost, and history could be forgotten.)

This accomplishes a few things: 1.Creates a new and extraordinary Star Wars era. With 100% limitless possiblities 2. Let's readers of the LotF era know something huge is coming, but not when. Fill them with anticipation and dread.
  Master Jacen Solo1
date Posted: Jan 04, 2006 10:46 PM
(cont.)

Eventually we could tie LotF into your series. Wouldn't that be cool to have your new charcters unearth some holocron that talked about an ancient Jedi Master named Ben Skywalker? Or a terrible dark Jedi named Jacen Solo(Might give a few NJO fans a heart-attack, including me lol.)?

And wouldn't it be awesome for the conclusion of LotF or some future series to end with a sign that your series(and the end) was coming

I definetly think Earth should be in the new galaxy or at least mentioned somewhere. And start your books with "not so long ago, in a galaxy far, far, away" or something like that.

From all the all Sci-Fi I've read and seen on TV other than Star Wars. The End could be caused by cascading wave of energy that travels thru space that destroys each planet as continues to thru the galaxy.

I don't if any knows or remembers the Sci-Fi show Sliders about people going from alternate earths to earths, but some similar happened on episode of that show that destroyed an alternate earth. And Also in Stat Trek Generations Movie.

I am a little hesitant though. While it sounds awesome it doesn't sound star warsy to me.

Or energy from red sun that goes Supernova and energy from the supernova causes deadly wave of energy to travel thru space and causes planets to be destroyed as it passes thru space and countinues to destroy planet by planet as comes closer to Republic's galaxy?

It sounds good, but here's the only problem: what could suddenly bring about the self-destruction of the galaxy? That usually happens as a gradual thing, not a sudden one. Still a great idea though!

Seriously who would want to destroy the star wars galaxy? Then make up 50 new planets......THEN MAYBE AT THE CENTER OF THIS "NEW" GALAXY, Was a planet called Earth. So then using Medichlorians Ben Skywalker Creates life on earth, then dies but writes a script called star wars and puts in bold exclamation mark DONT MAKE ANYTHING HAPPEN IN STAR WARS AFTER "Return Of The Jedi!"
But of course then the evil writers uncovered this scrpt and laughed a hearty laugh and proposed "this is a good way to #### off fans let's do this!"

and somewhere watching over us was our real god ben Skywalker who hung his head and sighed. Now that is the next book that would finish off Star Wars but of course everybody would be pissed off, there would be boycott, and the Writer would be hung, and i would laugh a hearty laugh as i watch Jackass the movie.

Firstly, I agree with everyone else on here, that's a cool idea, just maybe not for Star Wars. Secondly, no offense to anyone, but does it kind of peeve anyone else when people spell simple things like Leiah wrong? Come on, Jingo Fett? Please people, just spell it correctly. I mean, I too do that sometimes, but this one guy (no offense to you, one guy, or girl) but he (or she) kept saying Jingo Fett. Whatever. I'm not the Emperor, I don't get to make these decisions.

there is a way that a story like this could be written where no one would complain and no heros have to die. they can be written in Star Wars infinites because, that is basically Star Wars in an alternate universe. this could possibly be done in Star Wars Visionaries as well i think but i am not sure about that. and wolfarcher you talk about the characters being misspelled, but you your self misspelled leia there is no h in her name its just leia.

an interesting idea. I wish somebody would end these books. The Eu started of prett well with the Thrawn Trilogy. Interesting characters, further develpoment of old favourites and so on. However I feel it has sprialled out of control. Many fans some in this blog dont bother with the EU books and prefer the movies. In light of recent events they be right. The whole njo series was good sci-fi but I felt it was not Star Wars in feel or content. Killing off Chewie won little fans as well. It was just a shock to inject some life into the bookline. finish it now the movies is where its at

I agree w/ Master Jacen Solo1. By setting it in the future, you allow the heroes of the NJO accomplish more. Besides, it will give you a reason to come up with newer technologies and such.:) Plus, just out of curiosity, would Zonama Sekot also evacuate to another galaxy? ?:| I mean, come on!! The planet has a hyperdrive!!! That would give you another plot line.
anyway, the idea is aweome, but it can't be immediate!!

That sounds like a great idea for an awesome story, but the only problem is that is ends the star wars galaxy. Perhaps instead of an end of the star wars galaxy, it could be the beginning of the star wars galaxy.

An entire galaxy is destroyed, and it's inhabitants escape into a new one, the star wars one.

Just an idea . . .

I am not so keen on actually seeing some great catacylsm befall the Star Wars galaxy as you have described, but this blog reminds me of a notion I thought about once. Everyone knows the events of Star Wars took place "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...", so I began to think about our own galaxy, the Milky Way. As I saw it, perhaps at some point in that story, the denizens of that galaxy somehow reached our own.
