The Ultimate Army has been decided, and thanks to bloggers like you, the winner is...

The Mandalorians!

The Mandalorians went through thousands of years of setbacks and catastrophes but were still able to establish themselves as the greatest army ever known. But their troubled history began with their ancient ancestors, the Taungs. The Taungs were originally in control of Coruscant but were brutally forced off the planet and fled to Roon. They then conquered a world they called Mandalore after their brilliant leader, and so, they became the Mandalorians.

At about 4000 BBY, the Neo-Crusaders under Mandalore the Ultimate started the Mandalorian Wars when they invaded Dxun and three sectors of Republic space. After the battle of Malachor V in which the Mandalorians were defeated by the Jedi Knight Revan, the Mandalorians fell into disarray and worked as mercenaries and bounty hunters.

An old war veteran Canderous Ordo assisted Revan destroy the gargantuan Star Forge and became the new Mandalore. Five years later, Canderous gathered up fellow Mandalorians in his sanctuary on Dxun. A former Jedi known as the Exile helped Canderous and the Mandalorians destroy a massive ship called the Ravager. Canderous went on to fight many battles on many worlds until his death sometime after the end of the Jedi Civil War.

In 60 BBY, tragedy struck the Mandalorians. There was a great schism between the True Mandalorians and the Mandalorian Death Watch. The current Mandalore, Jaster Mereel, was betrayed by fellow Mandalorian Montross and was killed by the Death Watch Leader Vizsla. Jango Fett then reigned as Mandalore and defeated the Death Watch.

But in the battle of Galidraan, a Jedi strike team led by Master Dooku killed every single Mandalorian except Jango Fett. Fett would later kill Komari Vosa and became the clone template for the infamous Clone Army. Jango never lived to see his clones go to battle though; he was mercilessly killed by Mace Windu in the Battle of Geonosis. But his clone son Boba carried on the Mandalorian legacy.

30 years after the Battle of Endor, Boba Fett was the New Mandalore of a new age. He led the Mandalorians in campaigns such as the Battle of Mandalore and the liberations of Gyndine and Tholatin and he assisted Han Solo on Caluula in one of the last battles of the Yuuzhan Vong War.

"In five millennia, the Mandalorians fought with and against a thousand armies on a thousand worlds.
