Welcome to this blog about a little volunteer army that managed to hold off an enemy force made up of nearly a million droids until help could arrive.

Freedom's Sons was a kind of paramilitary auxiliary to the Jedi that was founded right before the Clone Wars. Zozridor Slayke was a member of the Galactic Republic Judicial Forces and decided that if the Republic didn't take action against the Separatists that he would. With his crew and his ship,
Scarlet Thranta, they left the Republic and swore to protect from this unseen threat.
Soon afterwards the
Thranta was joined by many other ships, soldiers, mercenaries, and some civilians that also saw the Confederacy as a threat. Slayke persuaded thousands to join his volunteer army his charismatic leadership.
But there was one problem, the Republic believed that Freedom's Sons was the real threat and they sent the Jedi Master Nejaa Halcyon to arrest Slayke. When he finally located Slayke, he turned the tables on Nejaa and stole his ship, the
Plooriod Bodkin, and escaped unscathed. Leaving with only a hurt dignity, Nejaa became a silent supporter of the group and couldn't bring himself to arrest them.
Their greatest moment in the spotlight would come in on of the final months of the Clone Wars. Slayke's army received a distress call from Praesitlyn and jumped there immediately to assist the outnumbered militia. Before that, he contacted the Republic and realized that they hadn't received the distress call and he was told to wait for reinforcements. But Slayke's pride made him rush off and join in the battle without waiting for the Republic. He made a horrible mistake though, thousands of his troops were killed on the planet before Nejaa Halcyon and Anakin Skywalker came in with fresh troops and a new plan. With superior planning and genius maneuvers the battle was won.
But without Slayke and his courageous army, the planet,
and the Intergalactic Communications Center would have been overrun and fortified and the Republic wouldn't have even known about it until it was too late.
