Jango's Arrest
Hello everyone!

In the Comlink section of the SW Insider, they have started to put in a 'Questions About SW to Keep You Awake at Night' section. I find it very difficult to read this small section, as I start to think about them, and think about them, and think about them, and think about them...

You get the picture. But this month, I actually had an idea for one of them! Woohoo! (moving along...) It asks:

"In AOTC, Yoda and Mace Windu tell Obi-Wan to take Jango Fett into custody and bring him to the Jedi Temple. How was he supposed to do this? Obi-Wan had a one-seat ship. Was he going to strap Jango to the roof?"

I read this over a couple times, thought about it (no, I'm not going to write it out a million times again), and suddenly an idea popped into my head.... Maybe Obi-Wan was going to tow Jango's ship somehow, with Jango unconscious in it. The Jedi must have known that the ship would have some sort of valuable information in it (however, considering how many flubs-ups the Jedi had made by that point it wouldn't surprise me if they simply overlooked it... and yes, I said flub-ups).

Judging by how advanced the ships in the GFFA are (were...), I'm sure they would have figured out a way to pull another ship along behind them in Hyperspace. It only makes sense.

But if, for some reason, it doesn't (I could very easily be missing some key information, which wouldn't surprise me), I have another theory. Perhaps Obi-Wan was simply going to desert his Jedi Starfighter and fly the Slave I back to Coruscant. I'm sure the Jedi would be willing to sacrifice one ship to help stop Galactic Civil War.

Or, maybe I'm just insane. :D But between the three, I think I have some good ideas going on here. Which makes the most sense (and don't say the latter to be smart.)?

I'll put up the other questions in the section to see if you have any thoughts on these as well...
1. In ep. IV, when Vader is about to take on Obi-Wan, why isn't he more enraged when they finally meet each other again? If someone cut off my body parts I'd be!
2. In Ep. V, why does Yoda say Luke is reckless, not ready, and too old to train when in Ep. III he says that when the time was right the twins would be trained?
3. [This is the one in this blog...]
4. Are there going to be any more SW movies?

May the Force be With You!

Obi-Wan told Mace and the council that he'd report back when he had Jango in custody, so I assumed they'd send a transport...

1. perhaps he learned to control his anger and use it in his action rather then attack like a crazed madman. It was a calm slow methodical "I know I am going to win and I will savor this moment" fight.

2. Perhaps by Yoda's strict standards the time never became right. He just kept putting it off and putting it off not relaizing that the force was telling him it was the right time.

3. Jedi are trained to be resourceful. The council knew Obi-Wan would find a way.

4. No. Not by Lucas at any rate. And I doubt he'll let anyone else play in his sand box.

I think he would have taken Slave 1 back to Coruscant with Jango and Boba and R4 would have piloted Kenobi's ship back. That's my theory.

I read that Jedi are trained in infancy.

1. Vader had a long time to contemplate the events on Mustafar, and no one can keep a violent rage inside him for a decade. Vader was clearly humiliated by his defeat at their last fight, and he has more of a cold hatred and determination now rather than screaming rage.
2. I bet if Lucas could erase our memories he would change that line. But for continuity, one theory is that Yoda had become pessimistic in his old age and had little hope left for a resurgent jedi order
3. Obi-wan only tried to take Jango into custody, and from there he would report back and await further orders from the council.
4. No, Lucas wants the saga to be about vader's character arc, and he has repeated;y confirmed that no further episodes will be made.

Jango was going to have to sit on Obi-Wan's lap.

It was going to be an uncomfortable trip, to say the least.

I agree. Good.

I like your thinking!! That sounds like a great explanation.
Thanks again, and MTFBWY!!

I don't think Jango would agree to that... at least not in a concious state. Poor Mr. Fett!

I'm incredibly excited for the new SW TV shows. You know this is true because I'm actually being serious about this.
WOOHOOOOOO!!! That's my actual feeling!

i don't recall yoda saying that when the time is right the twins will be trained??? to the best of my knowledge yoda says into hiding we will go until the time is right. that doesn't mean that when the time is right the twins will be trained. yoda's comment about luke follows the star wars saga because if you remember right he said the same thing about anakin. the jedi like to start training ASAP before the candidate learns greed, and attatchement
