Hello everyone!
As has been happening lately, I was looking through the picture selector, searching for a topic. (Come to think of it, I probably shouldn't be telling people this...) I found this one, and was reminded of a blog that I have been wanting to write about for a long time, but always kept forgetting about it (my memory's not the greatest).
I've been wondering lately what is 'behind the mask' of the Tusken Raiders. To my knowledge, this hasn't been revealed anywhere (rightly so, I think). Many, many things/beings could be under the wrappings, but I've settled on one theory:
Humans.
I think the Tusken Raiders are actually Tatooine humans (would one call them Tatooinians?). Here's my theory...
I think a small band of humans was deserted somewhere in the remote desert (the Dune Sea, perhaps?), and were left to fend for themselves by another group of humans. This would have had to happen a long, long time before the beginning of Ep. I for this to work. Then, forced to fend for themselves, these ancient humans were forced to resort to drastic measures to survive (i.e. wrapping their heads in cloth to protect themselves from the twin suns).
They also would have had to hunt (eventually very visiously) for food, even if that meant kidnapping their former kin (humans) and eventually eating them (however gruesome, I believe this fits their persona). Over the centuries (or millenia), this band of lost humans became so different from their ancestors that they renamed themselves the Tusken Raiders (for a reason I can't think of right now), and lost all memory of the way they once were.
Well, that's my theory. (Do I see a work of fan-fiction coming on here?) What do you think? Are my ideas sane? What's your theory?
May the Force be With You, and Happy New Years!
P.S. As said in the comments, I found a picture of a
possible unmasked Tusken Raider
