Death Star II
Hello everyone!

First of all, I want to say Happy New Year to all, and, more importantly, of course, HAPPY 30th ANNIVERSARY!! It's so exciting! This year's going to be great (it would be even better if I could convince my parents to take me to CIV... we'll see).

Now, down to business. When I came across this picture (-->), I was instantly reminded of a creatures face (don't ask me why I haven't thought of this before... maybe it's just the angle). The Superlaser circle (for lack of a better title) is the eye, and and uncompleted ring just under the equator, so to speak, is the mouth.

Then I wondered, was this intentional? Did George Lucas make it look like a predatory animal on purpose, to make our subconscious minds realize that this was a dangerous thing? I think so. I could easily see filmmakers doing this do get their point across without making it overly obvious (which is a problem with a lot of films).

Do you see this? (You might need to cross your eyes or look a bit past the screen if you still don't see it - kind of like those magic eye things, where a picture is hidden within a bunch of swirls of colour) Or am I just making things up that aren't there?

May the Force be with You, and Happy 30th Anniversary!

P.S. Now that I've looked at it more (and follows my own advice (I crossed my eyes), it kind of looks like a shark's face. The shadow makes the right part in the picture look kind of flat along the equator.

It does bear a striking resemblance to 'Jack' from The Nightmare Before Christmas (directed by Tim Burton), if he had one side of his face blown off leaving him with a single eye-socket. Of course, 'Nightmare' came out before ROTJ so maybe it's Jack that resembles the DS2 and not the other way around. Which, in and of itself is odd, because in 'Sleepy Hollow' - also directed by Tim Burton - he cast McDirmiad (Sidious), Lee (Dooku), and Park (Maul) as actors in the movie. Spooky movies; spooky battlestations.

I'm sure there's a connection somewhere...or not. ;)

Oops, scratch that...reverse it: ROTJ came out before Nightmare. That's what I meant.

I see what your saying. But I still think a fully completed Death Star would rush me to the Escape pods faster than a 1/2 done one.

Tim Burton
He seems to be a SW fan, for some reason I can't put my finger on... Thanks for the comments, Kenobi-fan!

Very true, Stargeta, but keep in mind I'm talking about us watching the films who would be noticing this - not the people in the GFFA. We don't have to woory about the superlaser blasting us into oblivion whether it's completed or not. I'm not saying that the GFFA characters would be making this connection - they would deffinitly be more afraid of the Death Star when it was completed.

Thanks again for the comments!
