The Weaponry of Star Wars: Part III
Hello everyone!

I'm not sure if this is the most appropriate blog to be writing on Valentine's Day :x, but I'm doing it anyways.... Here's a brief overview of what's going on here: I'm making an alphabetical list of almost all (okay... maybe just a lot of) the weaponry of Star Wars. I'm getting my info from the Databank, Wiki/Wookie-pedia, and the New Essential Chronology. Well, here's Part III!

The Proton torpedo (Ep.'s I, IV, VI) is a powerful, expensive weapon usually used in starship to vessel battle, such as the Rebel attack on the Death Star during the Battle of Yavin (0 B.B.Y.). These weapons are conical in shape and have a field of energy surrounding them to prevent accidental detonation.

The Reciprocating Quad Blaster (Cip-Quad) (EU - Star Wars: Clone Wars, TV cartoon) are very powerful, large blasters that were used by Clone Troopers during the Clone Wars (22-19 B.B.Y). They attain their power from a back-pack power cell, and are mainly used to take out larger vehicles, such as AAT.

The Sith Lightsaber (Ep.'s I-VI, EU) is simply a normal lightsaber used by a Sith, which sometimes has two blades. The Sith form of this weapon is made from synthesized lightsaber crystals which were burned in a furnace as the Sith focuses his/her rage onto them, making them more powerful.
*Note: in the Databank, the Sith Lightsaber was listed as being solely in Ep. I (Maul's), however I thought it better to put it in all the Ep.'s and the EU.

The Sporting blaster (Ep.'s I, IV, VI) is a lighter, more elegant form of the blaster, used by those of nobler heritage, such as princesses or queens (sound familiar?). They have a shorter range and have less power than a regular blaster.

The Sun Crusher (EU - The Jedi Academy Trilogy, novels) was an extremely powerful weapon designed (mostly) by the same woman that designed the original Death Star, Qui Xux. Considered to be more powerful than the Death Star, the Sun Crusher is capable of making a star go supernova, thereby destroying the entire system.

The Superlaser (Ep.'s IV, VI, EU) was the triumph of the Galactic Empire. Over its short history, the Empire constructed two Death Stars, both with incredibly powerful superlasers. The Death Star II was capable of firing one starship-destroying blast per minute and one planet-destroying blast per day.

Thermal detonators (Ep.'s I, IV, V, VI) are highly illegal, incredibly dangerous weapons which disintegrates anything within its 20 meter blast radius. Their explosive power comes from a fusion reaction in the core. Stormtroopers carry a less-powerful, smaller version of the thermal detonator on their belts.

Turbolasers (Ep.'s I-VI, EU) were used generation after generation for large-scale attacks, generally used to destroy large targets such as capital ships. They have a very slow firing rate, but are very powerful, which makes up for this issue.

The Vibro-ax (Ep. VI, EU) creates ultrasonic waves along the blade, increasing its deadliness and effectiveness. This technology is not confined to axes - it can be found in knives, bayonets and force pikes.

The Wookie bowcaster (Ep.'s III-VI, EU) is used by Wookiees of all generations, and each is different, as they are home-made. Incredible strength is needed to operate a bowcaster, which makes it the perfect weapon for the powerful Wookies. They usually have a firing range of 30-50 metres. In the unusual case of a malfunction, a Kashyyyk vine called kthysh vine can be strung, allowing the bowcaster to fire primitive projectiles.

And last, but certainly not least (not to be cliché, or anything), the Z-6 Rotary Blaster Cannon (EU - Star Wars: Clone Wars, TV cartoon) was slightly used by Clone Troopers during the Clone Wars, and is incredibly powerful and deadly. I mean really, really powerful and deadly. It has a maximum firing rate of over 160 shots... per second!! This model is the most advanced of its kind.

Well, that's it for this trilogy. I truly hope you liked reading these 3 blogs as much as I did writing them! Comments are very welcome!

May the Force be With You, Happy Valentine's Day :x, and Happy 30th Anniversary!

Good stuff. I've always loved the Wookiee bowcaster. It's such a stylized weapon that seems to fit Chewie perfectly.
