Hello everyone!
I've got a couple topics to talk about today, so I'm going to get right to it. As I've already talked about, in my previous blog,
http://blogs.starwars.com/mindofachild/4, I was afraid that Star Wars costumes were going to die down since the movies were over. And maybe it was just my neighbourhood, but I was absolutely right. I only got three SW costumes - a Jedi, a Yoda, and a Darth Vader. All very little kids. I was very disappointed, because I hoped deep down that I was wrong. Maybe, though, when GL finally gets those TV shows on air, more actually good costumes will show up!
On a little aside, with really nothing to do with SW, unfortunately, today was Take Your Kids to Work Day in Canada. I'm not sure if this happens in the US, but on one day, all the grade 9 students go to their parent's workplace for the day, to see if it's for us, essentially. Since my Dad is an IT (information technology) lawyer, I had
tons of fun today. In reality, it wasn't really all that bad. It was pretty interesting, actually. And I did get one good thing out of this - I now know that I do
not want to follow in my father's footsteps!! (I actually want to be a pediatric dentist/ orthodontist - I know, it's random, and it's ambitious, but it's what I want to do!)
Let's jump around a little bit, shall we! Going back to the costume thing... I mentioned that all the SW costumes I saw (ya - all three...) were young kids (about 5-10 years old). I was sure to compliment them on their absolutely
awesome costumes. By the looks on their faces (the 2 I could see, anyways), I think that knowing someone thought their SW costume was really cool made them feel good. I just want people to remember to encourage SW fandom, especially to younger kids.
And just one more thing before I sign off for the day (my Dad needs back on his computer). I want to know if other people had similar experiences with Hallowe'en (not getting many SW costumes), or if my neighbourhood is simply really uncool.
Well, have a great day (wow - that sounded corny) and MTFBWY!
