Hello everyone!
The other day (when I was extremely bored in gym class - as you can tell it's not really my thing), I was thinking about the phrase
SW is Forever. At first glance, SW fans understand what it means - that Star Wars will always be around, even though the movies are finished (And yes, let's face it - there won't be any more). I'm pretty sure everyone gets that.
But as I was standing there, I realized that it means something more than that. We all know, deep down, that we will always love SW, no matter what happens - no matter what people think.
SW is Forever displays that sentiment perfectly. But look at it closer -
Star Wars IS Forever. (With the emphasis on IS, as I hope you figured out!) I think that this means SW is, essentially, all of time. The conflicts in SW (conflicts between father and son, good and evil, light and dark) are universal. They are a part of everything. Star Wars could have happened anywhere, anytime. The themes and messages in SW - whether they be political, moral, familial - will be everpresent in our lives and our society. Always. For
ever.
Think about it. Really think about it. SW gives us, in black and white, what it means to be human, and what we are capable of. As this huge revelation hit me, during gym class, I simply stood there and stared at the wall, amazed that four simple words - meaningless alone - could mean so much and have so much depth.
I don't know about you, but I will think about that phrase very differently from now on.
Because Star Wars truly
is Forever.
