Hello everyone... again!

Yes, I know this is my second blog in about five minutes, but I'm just bursting with ideas this morning! (okay, maybe that's a bit of an exageration, but oh well!)

Yesterday, when I was at a Reach for the Top competition (I don't think this happens in the US - it could be under a different name), which is kind of like Jeopardy for kids - you just have to know random knowledge about pretty much everything. But anyways, we had our first competition yesterday, and I was appaled by one kids answer to a question.

Since we have to sub out (only 4 people play at a time), I was off, but one of the questions was "Who was the director of the original Star Wars?" One kid (not from my school, thank goodness) answered, quite confidently, "Ron Howard." I almost lost it. My mouth dropped, and I said, "What????", possibly a bit too forcefully. Then, after the time to answer had been expired, he said, "Oh, I'm so stupid! It's Steven Speilberg!" (sorry for the spelling) At that point, I hung my head and said, "George Lucas!!! It's George Lucas!!!"

This is what really got me - the kid argued with me! He said, "He just wrote it! He didn't direct it!" I wasn't going to argue with him, because I obviously knew I was right. But I kept thinking, How could someone - especially my age, and when a SW movie came out very recently - not know this?!

But then, when I was on, the very last question of the whole competition was, "What colour is Darth Vader's lightsaber?" I wanted to ask, "In what episode?" but I knew I would be wasting my time. It would have been very funny, though, seeing as one of my friends who was there is very much a SW fan as well. I very forcefully and confidently said, "RED!!" It was a great end to the competition, and we left smiling (even though we lost every game )

Well, I think that's it for today. I've taken up too much of your time already. I'll just keep laughing at that boy...
