OK here's a tip: avoid eating the at the convention center all together. Instead, jump on the orange route of the shuttle line and get off at the Ralphs Grocery store stop. There you can go across the street to Horton Plaza and eat cheaper on better food choices. Also, the part where they get everyone in the sails pavilion is standard. Avoid talking to the "Elite" staff. They're morons who only make minimum wage and they never give them any correct or good info. Listening to them will only be a lesson in frustration.

Also, here's another tip, go in through the sails pavilion every day. They open first and this will give you a good 5 minutes over everyone else, including the people who already have badges and who descend down the escalator over by the G section. This way you can snag cool things like the Harry Potter bags and the Paramount t-shirts. ;) Oh and if you wait until 10 am to arrive at the convention, you will always be annoyed. Try getting there no later than 8 am if you are staying at a local hotel and no later than 6:30 am if you are driving.

If there are panels you want to attend and exclusives you want to pick up, you don't always have time to walk or take the trolley over there. And sometimes the food court at HP isn't that much cheaper than at the convention center, with a few exceptions.

The problem with my getting to preview night is that I work away from downtown, so I'd have to leave early and try and find parking during evening rush hour. Not much more fun than just showing up on con days, but it is a lot more convenient if you're staying nearby from out of town.

Did you go to the breakfast?

We drove every day because taking the trolley would have prevented us from having a place to store our stuff. Plus we would have had to carry it with us and that is no fun. It was painful getting up at 5am everyday and getting there by 6:30am, but it was really worth it! I know how hard it is to get down there during rush hour and that's why I worked a 1/2 day on Wednesday and took Thursday - Friday off.
