when is it? I really want ot go to a convention

I'm going!!! I just can't decide what sort of alien to go as... A Jedi alien of course...

I think it'll be a great venue that I won't be able to attend. Indy is only about a 3, 4 hour drive for me now since I moved, and St. Louis ins only about two....but, tough luck, eh.

For all the talks of discount travel, etc, the cost of flying to CA, hotel, probably rental car....a phrase from Shatterpoint (which I'm re-reading) comes to mind...

I also probably won't be able to make it...I would love to attend a convention sometime, but LA is quite far. Also, I don't know where I'll be working/living or what I'll be able to afford this time next year. I'm looking for a new job that I can use my Master's for...and it will more than likely entail me moving and not having the "benefits" of vac, extended weekends, etc. I have now . Only time will tell. I'll definitely keep checking back for your "tips." Thanks, MissPadme

By having it in a different part of the country each time, more of us have a chance to go at least once...

But I missed celebration I, II, and III because Ive NEVER HAD TIME and my family doesnt love Star Wars as much as me.
I also heard that celebration IV is in 2007

No matter where they hold a Celebration, it'll be far from somebody. During the 10th anniversary convention in 1987, I lived in Florida while the con was in L.A.. Celebration I was in Denver, I lived in Northern Virginia...not doable without a plane trip which I couldn't afford at the time. Celebration II was closer, so I went to that one, but I still had to drive with a friend 10 hours each way. Since I'd moved to California, Celebration III wasn't possible without another plane trip, which again I couldn't afford. So I consider myself lucky for once a Celebration doesn't require a long road trip or a long flight .

Michelle1968, the convention is on Memorial Day weekend (Thurs.-Mon.) next year. I hope to convince my East Coast friends to come, but if you don't have anyone to go with, contact me privately. Funny how there can be a ton of fans in the same area but we don't all know each other.
