Ep III Wins People's Choice Favorite Movie, Drama
Episode III Named Favorite Movie, Favorite Drama

I'd say this is exactly why we do what we do, as fans, as debaters, as mods, as admins, as bloggers, as posters, as a community -- this movie was the culmination of the Prequel Project, and it brought it all home.

Episode I: The Phantom Menace, though the source of some trepidation, grew on me in time. Two years later, I really started to appreciate its grand scope and story.

Episode II: Attack of the Clones was exciting, but in retrospect became my least favorite of my favorite movies of all time. Which still makes it a favorite.

Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, however, took those elements and drew them together into a tight, action-packed drama. It did justice to the arc of Anakin's tragedy, to Yoda and Obi-Wan's sacrifice, and to the demise of the once mighty Republic that for so long lived only in our imagination until Mr. Lucas could weave it into Episode III's rich tapestry through his own vision.

In the end, it really is as he said - it's all one movie. One very long, very exciting, very sad, very uplifting, very meaningful, very important movie that began as a fun matinee, spoke something to the heart in the middle, and ended as a fun matinee that, though it could be dark, gave hope. It even flows as one movie, starting with action and suspense, slowing in the middle as the characters and their conflicts are revealed, and ending with a spectacular crescendo that wil live on as a classic cinematic moment.

Imagine someone undertaking that endeavor: To take a story as monumental as Star Wars, tell the end of the story, and then go back to the beginning, only to end in the middle. The end product was singular in movie history - to make people eager to go back and see a movie they had already seen, and to enrapture an audience into reliving their childhood.

We've come full circle with this movie, in many ways. Congratulations Episode III Cast and Crew! And fans.

well said that man, couldn't agree more.
Strangely enough feel the same about Clones in retrospect, Phantom gets better and better with age but Clones was pretty much the film that you saw on the screen on opening day. But Sith is a multilayered monster that rocks hard.
It's wierd, in the original trilogy we had a great opener, followed by the best movie sequel ever, and closed with an initially satisfying but ultimately weaker finale.
The prequel trilogy gave us an unappreciated classic, a solid but limited sequel and a barnstorming finale.
Good old George - he ran right through the finishing line and took the gold.

I agree, Rots is my favorite movie of all time. Not just of the sega, but of any movie. I couldn't name how many times I've watched it, and it never gets old. It may sound childish, but I couldn't tell you how many nights i've put it in my dvd player (I have to sleep with the tv on!) only to stay up way later than i needed to just because it had too much of my attention and I couldn't stop watching. That's also a very well stated thought. Rots has made me have a great appriciation for Tpm, which is getting higher on my list the more i look at the entire sega. It is the best moive of all time, in fact... I'll go watch it again, right now...

ROTS is, in my opinion, the best film of the year and is much deserving of the peoples choice award.

So he starts and ends with a win! I'm not entirely sure, but I think the last time he won a People's Choice for Favorite Movie was in 1979 for you-know-what.

It's not even the award for "Best Sci-fi*sigh* Movie" It's an actual appreciative real movie award!

I always knew we SW fans were right about the whole SW thing.......

Hollywood as a whole and the Acadamy always throw away SW as pop culture and nothing more. I'm not sure when Hollywood will realize that we as viewers, are not stupid and know a good movie when we see one. We also know what we like to go see and SW and other so called "pop culture" movies continue to break box office records. I hope that we as viewers never "wise up" and see the "high brow" (according to the Acadamy) movies they make us see.

Am I the only one that noticed on the SW.com Release, the word "Pubic" near the bottom of the page. Clearly a typo, but what an embarrassment to the author of that story.

Ianlomona, what you say about each movie is true, but think of it this way-If each movie was like ROTS or ESB, we wouldn't like them as much because it wouldn't be as dramatic if they didn't play off of each other. It wouldn't be dynamic. An analogy would be a symphonic score played loudly (or for you music majors, fortissimo) through the entire peice. Without the contrast of the softer parts, it wouldn't be as dramatic.

...We are not worthy, we are not worthy. Grand Master George YOU ROCK. And we won't let this dream die with the last saga of EPIII. At least the "People" spoke, and George won...Hollywood bites. Good review Dark Moose, much appreciated from this loyal, loyal fan. I think I will have a drink tonight to celebrate George and his mighty dream!! Excuse me while I go and play in the Star Wars "sand box" that our Master created for us. Peace out!!

Son of a Bith, you are totally correct, viewed as one long film then yep, it plays better with the ebbs and flows. It's just that some films nail it better than others, and it's ironic that the one film that is generally regarded as the best (Empire) was directed by someone else, and Jedi was a bit of a Tobe Hooper/Spielberg situation, with GL choosing a director he could lead (at least easier than Kersh, who is very much his own man). Perhap[s if Lucas had either directed all six, or just the original then we'd feel differently about the structure, or how it was shot.
