I'm one of those odd people in nature. I rarely ever go with the flow. In fact I prefer to go against the current. That's one of the things that make me unique. So I've been doing a lot of reading...so far all prequel books...and I've noted how similar they are to my chosen religion, Paganism. Now I'm only a Pagan-in-training, but I've been doing a lot of reading on it and have sort of a 'teacher'. And I've noticed quite a striking similarity between my religion and the 'religion' of Star Wars. If you think about it, they are based on the same principles. Both are ultimately good, but there are those who can fall into evilness. Another similarity: the Force & Magick. Not everyone can perform magick, and it takes years of training to become good at it...and you can never perfect it. The same applies with Jedis. Certain people are born to be Jedi, and they undergo a very long training process. Granted, there are differences, seeing as how there is no deity mentioned in Star Wars, and that does seem to be a big difference. But if you think about it, they do seem incredibly similar. Just my opinion.
