Star Wars...just a little, only a lot...and then some. Times 2!

So I've been reading all these Star Wars books...
I'm one of those odd people in nature. I rarely ever go with the flow. In fact I prefer to go against the current. That's one of the things that make me unique. So I've been doing a lot of reading...so far all prequel books...and I've noted how similar they are to my chosen religion, Paganism. Now I'm only a Pagan-in-training, but I've been doing a lot of reading on it and have sort of a 'teacher'. And I've noticed quite a striking similarity between my religion and the 'religion' of Star Wars. If you think about it, they are based on the same principles. Both are ultimately good, but there are those who can fall into evilness. Another similarity: the Force & Magick. Not everyone can perform magick, and it takes years of training to become good at it...and you can never perfect it. The same applies with Jedis. Certain people are born to be Jedi, and they undergo a very long training process. Granted, there are differences, seeing as how there is no deity mentioned in Star Wars, and that does seem to be a big difference. But if you think about it, they do seem incredibly similar. Just my opinion.

If people are still a bit confused about Paganism and Magick, feel free to ask me and I'll tell you what I know about this ancient religion.

LOL - My mom and I joke about being "born-again Pagans" (she's from the Baltic). I agree, there are many similiraties between that and Star Wars themes, but there are similarities to practically all spiritual traditions in SW. I think anyone from any background can relate to it for that reason. It's timeless and universal.

I'm a pagan in training...which means I'm not a full pagan yet...can't use magick for quite some time. It's basically like taking a class...you have to learn everything and know it well enough before you start using it in the real world.

Oooohhhh....This reminds me of "King Arthur". I love this mystical stuff about pagans. So, in other words, you are going to be a Lady of Avalon? BTW, that's a great read and is based off of true pagan beliefs during the "King Arthur" times. ;)

JK beat me to the punch...SW relates to all beliefs. That is what makes it a great saga.

I'm not religious, period. That said though, I have noticed many similarites between SW and various philosophies/religions.

You said that you were reading the Prequel books - which one, specificaly?

In a way...yes. Funny story....last week we watched Mists of Avalon. My pagan teacher and I def love that movie cause it's one of the few pagan movies that sticks to the truth about Paganism and all things related.

I've read Approaching Storm, Ep 2, Jedi Trial, Yoda Dark Rendevous, LOE, Ep 3, Dark Lord, and I'm currently working on Cestus Deception and also have Ep 1. I'm totally reading them in the wrong order...but it still works...so it's all good!
