So here comes part 2 of my pro and con list. Today we will be discussing Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
So some of the things that come up a lot in the discussions with my friends include the casting of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, that really cheesy love story between Anakin and Padme, and a few other minor details.
So let's start off with my favorite character in the saga: Anakin Skywalker.
A lot of people have complained about casting HC for the coveted role of Anakin Skywalker. As most of us know, a ton of huge names tried out for this role, but GL gave the part to a relatively unknown Hayden Christensen. While I can say that I'm am biased about this (as a member of LILWA), I agree with GL's casting choice.
Now step back for a moment and look at the actual character. He was relatively old when he joined the Jedi ranks. He had time to know his mother, and develop a childhood crush on Padme, which pretty much never ended. In this episode, Anakin was a teenager (okay 19, but most of us aren't completely mature at that age). Teenagers have a tendency to be whiny and wish that they could get separated from the adults and live their own lives. Anakin was under the supervision of Obi-Wan, and watching the movie, we know that he was a bit hard on him.
So now put yourself in that situation. Think about it. You'd probably be whiny too.
If you still don't agree with me, go watch some of HC's other movies. I highly suggest Life As A House (I'm actually watching it at the moment). Hayden won a lot of acclaim for that movie. Personally, it is my favorite movie of all time. Another movie of his that I really like is Awake. Damn good movie.
So before you go on and diss GL's choice for Anakin, watch the movies. He really is a talented actor (again I am biased).
So now onto the next topic. That cheesy love story.
Admittedly, I agree the the vast population. That love story was cheesy. GL needed someone like Danielle Steel or Nicholas Sparks to come in and write that story. That's about all I can say about that.
Hope you enjoyed, and maybe agreed with some of the topics.
Episode III to come next week.
