Star Wars...just a little, only a lot...and then some. Times 2!

The randomness that is me has returned
So it's been awhile since I've done any blogs, and I'm having withdrawals, so I thought I'd put in some thoughts.

I get to go back to South Carolina in about a month....yay! But not before I have to get my tonsils out. I've been looking forward to it for a while, and tonight I suddenly began to dread it (they come out next Friday). So seeing as how I'm going to be off for a while with no work and nothing to do but pack, I thought I would do some reading. I read Labyrinth of Evil last month (awesome) and I just picked up some more books, I got Dark Rendevous, Approaching Storm, and Rise of Darth Vader. After reading the synopsis on Wookiepedia, I wanted to start reading the last one right away. With how I read, it would have been done in about 2 hours. But I decided to hold off. If I read all my books now, what am I going to read when I'm off?

So I was hoping for some suggestions on what books to pick up, Star Wars or otherwise, that would keep me occupied for at least a week. The three I have will probably be done in a day each.

Also, with all the reading that I will be doing, I'm sure I'll be blog crazy, so look out for some to come soon.

On another note, being an Ewok fan, I own the Ewok adventures. I remember watching Caravan of Courage when I was much younger, not really remembering much from it though (Wicket and Cindel were the only characters that stuck out). So when I was at Walmart one day, and saw it, I just had to get it (this was a few years ago). I immeadiately rushed home to watch Caravan of Courage...still as good as I remember it. Well yesterday I watched the other movie that went along with it, Battle for Endor. First time I ever watched it. It's so sad...but it was still good. Not really a fan of Wicket speaking English. I would much rather here "goopta gerota" than "Hi how are you." What can I say, I'm an Ewok purist. Oh well.

So I guess that's the end for now...it's my last day of my summer class tomorrow and I still have two papers to write (famous procrastinator).

We have the Ewok adventures too! My seven year old loves them!!!! Funny that she also thinks it's silly for Wicket to speak English. Kids notice things!! Good luck on your papers. If you can, and are at all interested, you can keep your tonsils. Myson had his out 2 years ago. They gave them to him in a surgery bag (sealed of course) with some gross liquid. He took them to show and tell and was the hit of the class!

Sorry about the Tonsils. Never had them out myself. Ihope it goes well.

Hmm... what books? I am currently reading betrayal (good so far) read Survivors Quest before that and Outbound flight before that. All good reading. Since I don't know what your literary intrests are or what you have read already I don't know what to suggest. My own reading beyond SW seems to be on the heavy side "Home with God " by Neale Donald Walsh was a recent read. "Watership Down" (about a group of rabbits) or "Plague Dogs" by Richard Adams are some good modern classics.

I bought the ewok DVD last year to watch with my daughter.

Don't worry...I read a bit on the heavy side as well. I read the Silmarillion, by JRR Tolkien...the hardest book I have ever read. Don't get me wrong...it was fantastic...just took a lot of time (think 5000 years of history in about 400 pages).

I also just read Picture of Dorian Gray...good book...loved the ending...absolutely fabulous!

A short, quick read, but great if ya like the genre, is "Street Level" by Bob Truluck. It's detective novel, kinda the old "gumshoe, 'she walked into my office, swaying like a summer breeze" type, but set in the here and now, ya know? It is short, though...

SW books, it sounds like you have a decent set. If you haven't gotten or read it, Betrayal should be added as well.

Good luck with the operation.....and enjoy the Jell-O and ice creat that you get to eat for a while. ;)

for some visual aides as well as reading try giving any of the incredible cross sections a try. or places of SW episode 1,2,3, or the original trilogy too, i get lost in the imaginings of some of the places like Obi wans hut or echo base.

other books i would recomend would be "coyote" & it's sequel "coyote rising" by allen steele. set on a planet much smaller than earth that is being colonized by a group of revolutionaries who stole the spacecraft from the overbearing american government of that time. i took a chance on it & i think you would like it too!

I loved the Silmarillion. It took me five tries over a 12 year period to finally get through it. It was worth it in the end though. I guess I had to be ready for it.

I started reading the Star Wars books just over the last week and a half I think. I've gotten through The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and I'm in the middle of Labirynth of Evil. After that I plan to read Revenge of the Sith and afterwards, Dark Lord and then the Original Trilogy.

So far they're all sooo good. My favorite is definately the LOE.. for now. I just love how they give detailed backgrounds to Dooku and Greivous. But now I'm just blabbing. Good luck with your reading.. and I wish I had suggestions for you, but I'm not even as far along as you. Happy reading!

As to the reading, sounds like your pretty well set. AS for LOE, I loved it too! lots of good back story stuff on the characters. Maybe you are just the insentive I need to get going on PART 6 of my fan-fic. I'll try and have it up and posted by Monday, it'll keep you *occupied* for a little anyway :8} Hang in there, you'll be fine in no time....ANGEL

Yes, definitely wishing you luck with that. Adults, for some reason, typically have a much more difficult time with this surgery. However, you're still young, so hopefully it will go smoothly :)

As for reading...you have a good set of books to keep you occupied. In addition to the SW books, I also enjoy James Patterson. They usually read fairly quickly--I am also a "slow reader."

Again, good luck with your surgery and your reading.
