No! No! ANYTHING but the Trekkies!
Well, here's a subject that's full of rivalry, squabbling, and in many cases mutual dislike: Trekkies and Star Wars people. There seems to be something like a gang war between the Trekkies and us Star Wars folks. Of course, there are a token few that would rather we all just got along. Interestingly, this topic rarely seems to be directly addressed, especially as a blog.

So, to alleviate this horrible lack of knowledge, here's a questionnaire for you:

1. Star Trek is:

a. Stupid
b. Okay
c. Great! Almost as good as Star Wars...
d. The old shows were better
e. The new shows are better
f. Why are you asking me this?

2. If you see a Trekkie, you will most likely

a. Kill the Trekkie!
b. Ask deep philosophical questions, then run away. Fast.
c. Let them live, as long as they like Star Wars.
d. Have an upbeat Star Trek conversation.
e. Avoid them.
f. What's a Trekkie?

3. If you saw me in the street one day, you would probably

a. Slap me for deigning to allow the word "Trekkie" onto my blog.
b. Hug me for deigning to allow the word "Trekkie" onto my blog.
c. Ask me where I got the idea for this blog.
d. Ask me if I like Star Trek.
e. Ask me if I'm a Trekkie spy.
f. I dunno. I'd probably forget who you were.

All responses are obviously welcome.

In my mind, the 'battle' between Star Trek and Star Wars is like a school rivalry. You really don't hate eachother, but it's a school spirit sort of thing. :)

I agree with strider. I don't really dislike someone for liking or not liking Star Wars OR Star Trek. They both have their good & bad points & without one there might not have ever been the other. Phasers became blasters, communicators became comm-links & the Enterprise became the Millenium Falcon. I personally prefer Star Wars way over Star Trek, but I'm not opposed to watching it, & I feel no need to be a trekkie hater. That just lowers you to the point of the people that harass others for liking Star Wars.... ]:)

I also agree with striderdemme2005 - I don't really hate Trekkies; it's just a fun little rivalry thing.

Can I add "G" to the first one? "G" would be: I'm indifferent toward it.
Can I add "G" to the second one too? "G" would be "Ask them what it is they like about ST cuz I don't know a ton about it."

3) C and D

I agree with Strider. I have nothing personal against a Trekker (which I hear they prefer to be called but I could be wrong). It is just something fun.

Well folks, since I wrote the blog, I guess I should answer my own questions, just to prove I can. So here they be:

1. d
2. e

btw, to me Star Trek is fun if I can watch several episodes in a row late at night. Much like Carl Sagan's Cosmos shows, if anyone else has watched those. But I definitely do not qualify as a Trekkie; I just think, like many, the Wars/Trek rivalry is kind of fun to watch. Like a hot dog-eating competition.

I am a Next Generation fan, but don't think much about trekkies. I am actually dreading JJ Abrams "re-imagining" of Kirk and Co.
