Lightsaber Style Analysis: A Reflection of Inner Emotion
While pondering Lightsabers, I realized something. A Jedi or Sith's lightsaber styles reflect their inner emotions. So, I thought I'd analyze some character's lightsaber styles.

Anakin/Vader: Anakin (pre-darkside) fought very similarly to Obi-Wan, although as he grew older his arrogant hot-shot nature started to blend itself into his lightsaber flying as well as flying. After he turns to the dark side, (the Mustafar duel) he fights angrily and agressively, and his arrogant style I mentioned earlier amplifies, and ends up becoming his downfall.

Although we didn't see much of his fighting in the movies, we can see from the games and comics that Vader's style is wraith-like, as if he were a shadow. Here, we see his inner torment show through the way he fights, the sorrow he carries with him, and the anger that keeps him alive.

Darth Sidious/Palpatine: Palpatine's style of choice is a twisted conglomoration of twisted flips and deceiful feints, just like the Sith himself. The "twisted flips" are his twisted and evil nature, while the "deceitful feints" are the lies and propaganda Palpatine uses so tactfully during his rise to power. One can also observe that although he is a master when it comes to lightsaber's, but his true strength is the manipulation of others.

Count Dooku: Dooku's style mirrors the elegant swordplay of dueling nobles in the nineteen-hundreds. Dooku himself considers himself a gentlemen, whether you consider his outfit, mannerisms or title, they all point to a man who believes himself to be superior to all others.

Obi-Wan: Obi-Wan favors a strategic defensive style, similar to the way he orders his clones in the Clone Wars. You can see when he fights Vader (both times) that he is one who parrys and counters, rather than assault his opponent with a barrage of strikes. He is the voice of reason, one who would bring Anakin, and then Luke, to their senses when passion over-whelmed them. Unfortunatlely for the Jedi though, Obi-Wan couldn't bring Anakin to his senses when he turned to the Dark Side, sealing the fate of the Jedi.

In conclusion, all Jedi and Sith have different personalities, and they all have different lightsaber styles as well. Some are subtle and precise (Dooku) while others are onslaughts of hate and fear. (Anakin on Mustafar) But whatever these styles may be, they all fascinate us more and more as we watch and rewatch the saga of Star Wars.
