OK - Nintendo has revealed the controller for their new Revolution console. But...there's a catch. You know Nintendo, always trying to
revolutionize gaming.
Well, the new controller's not actually a controller.
It's a remote! That's right, just like the thing you use to control your DVD player and your television. And get this: and
motion sensors so it can detect movement. No need to toy with petty control
sticks, you have the controller
itself.
Imagine that for a moment. You want move your virtual sword left? Just jerk your controller (or
remote, I suppose) a little bit in that direction. And now, the game you're playing can know that when you're stabbing foward with the controller, you're stabbing foward in the game.
Here's another article about it. Wow.
On the other hand, it comes in some awesome colors. That in itself may make it worth using, at least for me. Aesthetics are extremely important.
Yes, wow. I truly never expected this. I wonder how far they'll take the motion-detection. I don't personally want to have to dance around the room like a madman every time I want to defeat Ganondorf in a future Zelda game. Revolutional or not, that's just not my thing.
But always in motion, the future is, and clouded too.
Will game developers make the most and the best of this new controller? Will they use it at all? Will Nintendo's new focus on shaking up the market actually work, or will they join SEGA in the land of lost console-makers?
