Garden Statuary? What the heck?
I am an avid gardener.

Well, maybe avid isn't the word. Dogged, maybe? I keep trying because I don't quite have it right yet. But I certainly enjoy the chase of the perfect petunia.

When the damn rabbits don't eat them.

That leads me to my issue today. How do I keep rabbits out of my garden in an interesting, effective, and perhaps ornate manner?

I thought about those random owl thingies that keep birds off of bell towers and billboards, and thought to myself, that's it! I need a giant cat or scary elf to keep the rabbits out of my garden. But I knew in the back of my mind that it wouldn't really work. I just wanted an excuse to go to Garden Ridge and browse the garden section.

One of my neighbors has lots of garden decor. She has the pink flamingos and the big blue gazing ball that makes me think perhaps she's a witch who turns little children who annoy her into pink flamingos to decorate her lawn with. Her's is basically tacky, and I wouldn't want to go that route.

That leads me to the question... how do you tell if it's tasteful garden statuary or tacky, scary, witch-like decor? And should I perhaps avoid all garden ornaments just in case?

But then there's the rabbit.

Keep your eyes out for a big scary elf statue. Hope it does the trick or I might have to turn into a blue gazing ball witch and turn the rabbits into pink flamingos.
