The Diet Phenomenon
How is it that today's society has idolized the perfect body?

From movies to magizines to rock divas, they all have flat bellies, toned arms and long legs. While those of us who are shaped like a normal, cellulite-ridden, human female wonder where we went wrong in our workout routine. Then we go on a rigorous dieting routine where we try to emulate that perfect, stick-like body.

So why do we buy into it? Why can't we just be happy with what we look like? If we're healthy and happy in general why can't we just accept that we're all shaped differently just as we all have different eyes and hair and noses? Are we controlled by our barbarous roots and think we have to be perfect to keep our men interested? In which case,. what ever happened to the liberated feminist?

Let us embrace our slightly plump, imperfect bodies the same way we embrace our imperfect hair and freckles. Let us rejoice in our ice cream and Snickers bars. Let us reject celery (because, frankly, it's nasty) and salads with low-fat dressing. Let us exercise only to stay healthy and enjoy an entire bacon cheeseburger with the french fries. Let us know that men (or women) will find us attractive and interesting in spite of our imperfections, and we might just be even more fascinating because of them.

Now, excuse me while I research my next diet plan.
