higher ground...who cares
okay so I was my wife was watching the Gilmore girls and I walked in on this scene where this guy luke had just seen ep.III and was going on about higher ground and going on about that. This got me thinking. We have seen what George Lucas is capable of and by all rights anakin should have easily jumped over anakin. I just feel like this fight, as awesome as it was, was forced in the end. I just know that i could of been better. I am not a prequel hater i just think there is more..

"It's over, Anakin! This high ground adds +5 to my agility!"

(Very few people probably got that reference...)

Anyways, yeah. It was a little weird.

It is possible that Obi-Wan was speaking more than just geography. It is considered by military officers that holding the higher ground is more advantageous.

I always liked that... it's one of the few instances where we see that there are limits to Anakin's powers, and that those limits are recognized by his fellow Jedi. It's realistic, in a way.

I miss Gilmore Girls...

I guess i'm not coming at this as a fight sequence but more as there could have been more to the end.

I know that other people have blogged on this so sorry for any repeats

Oh, yeah. There definately could have been a more fancy finish, but I kinda like it this way.

I never thought Anakin was even trying to jump over Obi-Wan and get behind him. I always thought it was going to be this big fancy flip-around-in-the-air-for-five-minutes-and-when-he's-done-behead-the-enemy kind of thing.

Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

I always interpreted Obi-wan's line both literally (he did have the higher ground) and metaphorically. Whether that was GL's intention, I can't say. We all interpret different facets of the movies differently.

I rather liked the way the lightsaber battle ended - for a number of reasons. One of the best lessons from Anakin's failure at the end of ROTS is that one never should overestimate one's powers. Anakin knew he was strong, considered himself stronger than Obi-wan, and, in the end, was taken down a peg or two (no pun intended). It's a lesson too few people heed.

I've noticed that most or perhaps even all of the light saber fight sequences in both trilogies tend to end on an anti-climatic note.
