Thoughts on Life
First off, an apology; I've been gone for a while now (a month I think) without sight or sound. Just wanna say that I haven't abandoned Star Wars nor blogging, and while I may take brief sabbaticals to clear my head and organize my life, I'll always come back. :)

(I don't usually do these sorts of 'journal' blog entries, so please forgive if it sounds like I have diarrhea of the brain. :^O )

School started back up, so pile that on martial arts, my music lessons, art classes and miscellaneous other events, I have precious little free time; and based on how my schedule looks this and next month, it's going to stay that way for a while. It's good to stay busy, and I'm really learning to appreciate that now. I guess it's hard to explain; getting things done just feels good.

And, of course, the hot topic in my family today- my dad got laid off this morning. The most annoying thing about this is that there was absolutely no warning whatsoever. We weren't expecting it, and had planned a 2 week vacation to California at the start of September... Unfortunately, they're only giving my dad about four weeks severance pay, so the trip is going to have to be postponed until he finds a new job and settles in.

On top of that, my aunt has redeveloped breast cancer, and has to go into surgery to get the whole darn thing removed, so we're all trying to cheer her up with cards and funny jokes. Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.

But things aren't always bad- a great opprotunity for my music has finally rolled along. I'm going to have a chance to train in composition and orchestration for Phillip Keveren- head orchestrator for the Hal Leanord music book company. He's got some 50 of his own books he's produced under his belt, and has had offers to do scores for movies. It ought to be an experience.

It really is helping me to put things into perspective, and keep my dreams alive.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling now.

JV out.

(Comments welcome as usual. :D )

Keep your head up. The "downs" in life are what help you enjoy the "ups".

Hardly close to the pressures you have going, but my wife just ended her 2 year job search to get out of her current deadend job. Pay raise and all. Things get better as long as you stick with it.:D

Great news about your music though. I hope that continues to go well for you.

That reminds me of a song in a movie my three year old son watches. One of the verses applies here I think.

"Every happy ever after ending has a scary part first".

I've got one!

Doctor: I'm afraid that I've got some bad news. We've got the test results back, and it looks like you have cancer and Alzheimer's.

Patient: [After a pause] Wow. Well, at least I don't have cancer.

My dad thinks that it's pretty funny (he's got a brain tumour with associated memory defects), so I reckon it should be cool.

Chin up!

I wish I had something to say here that isn't some sort of platitude... but I'm reminded of my favorit which is "whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger"

It's not always true, of course... but you seem to have a good head on your shoulders, so I suspect it will be true for you....

Down the road of your life you'll run into these situations again.... try to remember the lessons learned this time around and have compassion...

Remember the Force is with you always.... even if it's just in your heart...

Great news about your music program, though! :) I hope that goes well!! What do you play or are you focusing strictly on orchestration?

OK, here's one...

Doctor: I have bad news and worse news...
Patient: Ok, what's the bad news.
Doctor: You have only 24 hours to live.
Patient: what could be worse than that?
Doctor: I forgot to call you yesterday!

I think that came off Blue Coller Comedy, but I was only listenting with one ear so I'm not sure...

I'm sorry about your dad...my hubby has been laid off and it can be scary. But something will come along for him.

Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.
That's so true. Your aunt will come through the surgery just fine. My thoughts will be with you and your family.

Congratulations on your music, that's a great opportunity!

Hang in there, things will work out. TFWBWY, A.

I hope your dad finds something soon...I'm sorry to hear about the troubles in the present.

Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.

That's what we do at work all the time (Pediatric Intensive/Critical Care)...it doesn't always work, but it sure does help when it is needed. I'll send my thoughts her way for you.

But things aren't always bad- a great opprotunity for my music has finally rolled along

Good luck with that...sounds like the opportunity of a lifetime!!
