This, as you have probably figured out, is a continuation of
this entry. So now to the business at hand. I basically pick up where I left off in part one, after I edited out the last few lines due to the fact that I didn't really say anything and had really horrible writing skills at the time of night that I was typing it.
So the first thing I did after the Algebra Placement test was to check in. Basically what this meant was to get all my stuff (clothes, bedding, etc.) and lug it all the way across campus and up to the second floor of the boys dorm. I got the key for my room, and proceeded to go to the room, and first met my roomate for the weekend. It was interesting because he is Chinese, but he does not speak much Chinese. His parents sure did though! After that, we basically had a little time to kill and went to get lunch at the local Wendy's. I am not certain wether it was the early lunch factor, or the slight nervous factor, but for some reason I was not very hungry.
After that we proceded to return to the ASMS campus and went into the auditorium, where I was happy to see they had replaced the
stained-glass window (if I am not mistaken, the replacement was not near so drab as the old one) which had been destroyed by Hurricane Ivan. We had a nice little introduction, including a funny little skit where they showed that GPAs are not the only thing college admissions look at. The funniest thing was when the person with the GPA of 2.8 (the lowest there) moved all the way ahead of all the others because his last name was Kenedy, he was applying to a school with a Kenedy Library, and it was NOT a coincidence!
Next we split off from our parents and family (for the whole weekend) and went to Student Orientation, which was basically fifteen to twenty people in a group both getting to know each other and going over some rules. It was actually not all that bad, surprisingly! Meanwhile our families where all out in the auditorium for Parent Orientation, which I am sure was not
near as fun as our orientation!
Then we went to the SAC (Student Activity Center) to start a group scavenger hunt. Aside from running all over campus and getting cramps, it was pretty fun!
We then had dinner, our first meal at ASMS for orientation. It is like the current students say: ASMS cafeteria food is far better then regular cafeteria food, but the fact is it is still cafeteria food.
Soon after, we had to dress up to attend what they entitled "Mithrals," which was a quartet playing such instruments as the violin, chello, viola, flute (and many other piped instruments) and a celtic harp. Aside from the fact that I was so tired due to lack of sleep and therefore almost fell asleep several times, it was actually quite a nice performance.
The next event was Icebreakers in the gym, which included just mingling and other things that are icebreakerish. Most of them were quite fun!
We then had bathroom duty which was alright, except for the fact that we had to stay awake for it! All I had to do was a little mopping, so no biggie.

We then could finally go to bed, and I slept like a baby!
More on Saturday and sunday to come
