Jango Fett: The Enigma
He killed at least one Jedi on Geonosis. He gave Obi-Wan a heck of a fight when the Jedi tried to bring him in for questioning. He shot his former partner from across a busy Coruscant street. And, of course, his clones are directly responsible for carrying out Order 66. But, is Jango Fett really such a bad guy?

Sure, he gets clumped with the villains all the time: He's one of the knights for the Dark Side in the Star Wars Chess Set. He's one of the villains in Battlefront II, even killing his clones on the Kamino and Kashyyyk maps. But, just watching Attack of the Clones can give you the impression that really, he's just defending himself and his "son". And when I read the Jango Fett comic from Dark Horse, which portrays him as even more of a softie; playing with his son and his action figures, saving the life of someone who previously tried to kill him, etc. I realized Jango is probably the most misunderstood character in the saga. Just read his bio on Wookieepedia. He helped save Coruscant, and put an end to a drug cartel.

So, what we have is a slightly crazy, pretty well-known figure who (judging from Matt Stover's Shatterpoint was well-liked in general. Who's a good analogy of that in our world? I almost hate to sound disrespectful, but yeah, Steve Irwin. Mace Windu killed the Steve Irwin of the Star Wars universe.

On the other hand, Boba's a scary punk.

I think this is very true, but in some ways not. Murder is never a good thing, no matter ithe condition of it.

I think you can be an "average bad guy", maybe you're not a Hitler, Stalin, or Palpatine, but you're still bad.

I think Jango Fett is such a guy. He was obviously teaching his son the wrong things: Distrust, even hate Jedi, etc. I think that, prior to Order #66 Jedi were the "good guys" of the galaxy, the cowboys who helped old women across the street, etc, so I think it's pretty telling when his son says "Yeah!" as they shoot Obi Wan out of the sky (or at least think they do).

So don't let his "let's go bowling tonight" attitude fool you. He's Bomb Bad.

I think Jango said it best when he said:

"I'm just a simple man, trying to make my way in the universe."

And again, to assume the Jedi are the "good guys" all lies in your perspective. Yes, I'm not suggesting the Sith weren't evil, but to suggest that the Jedi should be placed upon a pedestal that all others would have to be judged is misleading, in my opinion.

Sure Jango wasn't probably the best role model for Boba. Although teaching your son to watch his back and to not trust anyone sounds about right, when your a bounty hunter.

I'm sure Boba's issues with the Jedi probably stemmed mostly from watching Mace decapitate his father. I mean, I think I'd pretty upset myself.

:^O So true! *s#######.*

I think that Jango Fett isn't really a "good guy" or a "bad guy"--he's in the middle. Though we might question his "grey area" status because he's a bounty hunter and worked for the Separatists/ Sith, you can't deny that if the Republic--the supposed "good guys"--had hired him, he'd probably have been considered a "good guy" as well.

We humans are so contradictory, aren't we? If I'm going on about nothing at all, feel free to delete.

It would be very interesting to see what would have happened if the republic had got to him before the seperatists. What would he be doing? Would he had died?

Agree with RC-6035 "Nova". He's sort of like mercenary. In Episode II book, the author have some description of how Jango treated his son. He was really a good father. This makes him more of a good guy in my opinion.

He was paid to kill senator Padme. Hire by Count Dooku as you know. He bad the son will be bad. Because the son always follow the father. Sometimes the son might follow but not everytime but i think most of the time. In the end his also became a hunter just like him. He follow what he was. I do not think he such a good person. X-(

well they are mandalorians. they still care about family, but they are warlike no matter what. in the star wars insider where they had the article about the mandalorians, they explained the mandalorian attitude and way of life.(i dont remember what issue). and they sure are the same way in the KOTOR series.
